My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Gel Crayon 106 Rest in Khaki:
Starting off with the packaging, this gel crayon pencil comes in a regular, sleek black crayon pencil form and is a sharpenable pencil. No sharpener has been provided with the pencil. It has a color-coded cap which makes the shade identification easier. The cap sits securely in place. The packaging looks quite attractive. The product body bears no information about the product.
Initially, the pencil comes packed in a cellophane wrapper to prevent tampering with the packaging. All the product details are written on the body of the pencil itself. The only con about the packaging is that these pencils are not retractable; rather they need to be sharpened regularly. The pencil can be sharpened using a normal sharpener. Sharpening means unwanted wastage of product, which is very disappointing. Overall, the packaging is sturdy and travel-friendly.
The shade ‘Rest In Khaki’ is a dirty green shade which is inspired by the uniform of the military. The colour has a very subtle metallic golden sheen to it, which looks gorgeous post application. It shows up well on the eyes. It is really unique and will flatter all Indian skin tones. I was bored with browns, blues, and blacks. So, I decided to try out this new shade. This is by far the most uncommon shade in my eyeliner collection. I am happy that L’Oreal has launched such an amazing shade in this collection.
The colour is pigment packed. Keeping the price value in mind, the pigmentation is quite intense and gives a very good colour payoff. Only one swipe is sufficient for an opaque coverage. However, you can apply 2-3 swipes for building a more intense colour. You would not have to apply pressure for drawing the lines on your eyes. The formula is really great and the colour shows up well on the eyes. The formula is super creamy and the strokes are neat.
Texture and Finish:
The texture of this eye pencil is extremely ultra-soft and smooth. It glides on smoothly like a dream without any pulling or tugging. The formula is creamy and blends like a dream. The application is very smooth and even.
The formula of this pencil is quite nice and it won’t dry down immediately. So, you get some time and you can even create a soft look on your eyes by using a smudger brush. One thing that needs to be kept in mind is that during application, you have to be really swift in smudging the liner; otherwise, it sets on your eyelids quickly. But once it dries down, it stays in place and it won’t smudge at all.
I have also tried the L’Oreal Paris Silkissme Eyeliner range but those eyeliners did smudge a little while these don’t, not even slightly. So, this is a complete transfer proof eyeliner. The liner sets to a gorgeous, velvety and semi-matte finish which I absolutely love. It feels very comfortable on the eyes. It will never cause any irritation or sting your eyes. The formulation is just apt for a perfect smudge-proof finish. These are waterproof as well.
The best part about this liner is that it is so versatile. It can be used in so many ways. You can use it simply as a coloured kajal, or for creating smokey eye looks. You can draw lines easily on both the upper and lower lash line. Since my eyes are quite sensitive, I have some trouble applying it to the waterline. To make your eyes look bigger, open your eyes wide and draw the liner directly onto the top lash line. Otherwise, it just works fine.
The staying power of this eyeliner is quite long. It stays for about 7-8 hours on the upper lash line without any smudging or transferring. Since my eyes get watery, on the lower lash line it stays for about 4-5 hours. This is the only issue with this liner. I have not worn this liner throughout the day, so I cannot comment on the 24-hour claim. But I can definitely say that it is long wearing eyeliner.
Those who have oily lids, it is advisable to prime your lids with a loose powder or an eye primer for oil absorption and increased the longevity of the liner. You can use a water-based remover for removal but it doesn’t get removed completely then. This liner comes off completely with an oil based liner since it is waterproof. I used the Garnier oil-based micellar water for removing this liner.
I feel this is a great range to experiment with bold as well as subtle colours. The colour ‘Rest In Khaki’ is really unique and I’m already in love with it. The pigmentation, the texture is all on the positive side. I did not find any significant demerits after using it. It definitely falls in the list of long-staying liners. I would definitely recommend it to the readers to go ahead and buy this.
