L’Oreal Paris 730 Ispahan Rose CC Genius Balm Review

L’Oréal has been my favorite brand for lipsticks. These CC ‘Genius’ balms were launched recently and I picked up this shade. Let’s know more in detail.

Price: Rs. 650/-
Claims:
• Color corrective with the sheerest young and fresh genius shades blended with genius color corrective oils that correct the dull complexion of lips just like a magic wand.
• Dullness corrective with the most dazzling yet natural shine infused with genius micro magnifying oils that bring lively luscency to lips.
• 12 hours hydration with the natural spa oils caressed with genius natural caring oils that instantly erase chapped lines and provide hydration all day long.
• Deliciously fragrant as a flowery red fruit smoothie, shiny as if lips are awakened in the morning, hydrated as if lips are just out of the spa.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris 703 Ispahan Rose CC Genius Balm:

Packaging: The packaging is really good. Similar to the Rouge Caresse range but only with color coded caps. Identification is easy if you have more than one. It is also nice to carry it around without any hassles. The cap fits snugly and doesn’t come off.

Shade: The shade Ispahan rose (what’s that again?) is a pretty soft rosy pink with the tiniest micro shimmers. They just add to the shine. It is an everyday pink and wearable one for most skin tones.

Texture and pigmentation: The texture is light; goes on smoothly like a dream. In other words, the texture is soft and buttery. But on the other hand, the soft texture makes it bleed when it is layered. It is super moisturizing too. Pigmentation wise, I think it is not very sheer considering it is a balm sort of lipstick. The finish is glossy and makes your lips full of life. If you aren’t a fan of glossy finishes then this may not be for you. But, in my opinion texture-wise I quite prefer the Rouge Caresse ones over this. Also, it has a sweet scent to it which lingers on for quite sometime and fades away with time; not very bothersome though.

Staying power: I wasn’t expecting quite a lot from this one in terms of the lasting power. And I was right! It doesn’t last as much and on an average lasting power is around 2 hours. It transfers too, into cups and spoons. The glossy finish fades after a glass of water or a cup of coffee. And so goes the color with it. It doesn’t survive a meal at all. It fades from corners as well as the center. I think it is best worn lightly, on days when you need just a flush of color on the lips.

Overall, it is very average in my opinion considering how pricey it is. 650 bucks for a balm which calls itself ‘genius’ but doesn’t quite do anything is something I wouldn’t go back for.

• Color-coded caps.
• Lovely soft rosy pink.
• Apt for everyday wear.
• I like the glossy, shiny finish.
• Makes lips look full of life.
• Sweet fragrance, not bothersome.
• Smooth and soft texture.
• Glides on lips.
• Good pigmentation.
• Very hydrating on lips.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris 703 Ispahan Rose CC Genius Balm:

• Staying power is low.
• Transfers.
• Bleeds when you apply over 2 coats.
• Very pricey for a balm.
• Nothing ‘genius’ about this.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase L’Oreal Paris 703 Ispahan Rose CC Genius Balm?
Not highly impressed with this, but lipstick junkies can give this a shot. I won’t be going back to this range, not even for other shades.
