How are you doing today? I am back again to share two lip treats with you all from my previous shopping haul from L’Oreal. My Experience With L’Oreal Paris Choco-Lacque La Lacque And Game Set & Matte Le Matte Lip Pen:

Well, as we have talked about their packaging earlier, both the shades are encased in sleek plastic retractable pen packaging with a safety cap. They do have the L’Oreal’s signature smell apart from being convenient and travel friendly packaging.

Talking about La Lacque “Choco-Lacque” shade first, it is a pretty warm neutral pink shade with cream glossy finish. I find it pretty close to my previous Bite Beauty high pigment pencil in Madeira, though Madeira is lighter while it also resembles to the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick – Fairest Nude as well. I also find it perfect with hot smoky eye makeup or anytime summer look. The texture and formula are really creamy and glossy which looks pretty good on my dry normal lips. It does tug a little like the usual La Lacque range, but nothing to worry about as it gives full coverage with hydrating creamy sheen.

I didn’t find it well hydrating though it does not dry out my lips either. It stays put for good 6-8 hours with water/tea breaks and light snacks, while it fades off quickly after one heavy meal. It does not leave any funky stain behind, much to my liking. Overall, it is also one such decent lip pen in La Lacque collection which is good enough for beauties with pigmented lips apart from complimenting variety of pale/medium skin tones. If you are fan of such creamy shades, you should check it out. To be honest, I do like its formula and finish, but the shade is not what I always love to wear on my lips. Personally, I am more into bright pink and red shades plus I have many light lip colors and glosses to finish off first, hence I don’t prefer it much.

Now coming to Le Matte “Game Set & Matte” Lip Pen, it is a shimmery, milky pink or we can say baby pink shade. Surprisingly, it comes up very uneven on my lips unlike other L’Oreal Le Matte lip Pens, which I dislike. Due to its tricky finish, I don’t wear it often, but whenever I do, I make sure my lips are fully scrubbed and prepped up. I feel this is a bummer out of all the shades in this Le Matte collection so far! It was quite shocking to see how it looked flaky on dry normal lips and I tried it couple of times as I could not believe that it belongs to  the same range as my much loved shade “Matte-R-of Fact“! Yes gals, this particular shimmery shade might settle on dry flaky lips or lip lines hence, a well scrubbed and moisturized regime is recommended prior using it.

Moreover, it still gives quite an uneven and slightly flaky finish even on well hydrated soft lips somehow. I feel it is tricky for anyone irrespective of dry or normal lip texture or lip pigmentation. Hence, we should not mind skipping it out of the whole range! Even its 4-5 hours of wear time is useless. I would suggest just skip it especially if you have dry lips. I don’t think I would consider it or recommend it to anyone again. Let’s sum up pros and cons.

Pros Of L’Oreal Paris Choco-Lacque La Lacque And Game Set & Matte Le Matte Lip Pen:

  • As usual lightweight, creamy, glossy and matte shades from L’Oreal Lacque and Le Matte range.
  • The shade Choco-Lacque is a wearable, neutral pink shade while Le Matte Game Set & Matte is bright, shimmery pink.
  • The Lacque Lip Pen gives quite smooth, creamy and  glossy finish on lips with almost full coverage.
  • The formula and texture of lip pens are decent and do not accentuate lip issues
  • The La Lacque Lip Pen gives exactly the same color pay off as we see in the packaging.
  • The staying power of both collections is quite good ranging from 6-8 hours with light meal or water/tea breaks.
  • Quite user friendly and travel friendly.

Cons Of L’Oreal Paris Choco-Lacque La Lacque And Game Set & Matte Le Matte Lip Pen:

  • The Le Matte game set & matte seems tricky for everyone considering its uneven finish and texture.
  • Despite scrubbing and moisturising our lips beforehand, Game Set & Matte won’t look flattering on lips.
  • The shade Game Set & Matte might aggravate dryness on lips.
  • The Game Set & Matte seems pricey for its performance.

Well, I still like Choco-Lacque Lip Pen out of the two while game set & matte seems total dud to me so far! I might still consider Choco-lacque in future purchases but this le matte game set & matte is complete no or me and I think for everyone.

  1. Both the shades won’t suit me so I have nothing to lose here. But Game Set & Matte looks great on you.
