L’Oreal Paris has added the “Gold Obsession” lipsticks to their Color Riche Lipstick Collection. I had reviewed “Rose Gold,” “Rouge Gold” and “Mocha Gold” from the same range. Today’s review is going to be on a gold lipstick called “Le Gold” from L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipstick range. Read on to know how it fared for me.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipstick Le Gold:

Let’s begin with the packaging of this baby. L’Oreal Paris always come up with really interesting and attractive packaging. The lipstick comes in the regular “Color Riche” packaging. The lipstick tube is glossy black in color and has a beautiful metallic gold cap. This cap shuts very securely making a click sound and ensures that the packaging is purse friendly. The metallic gold cap looks quite attractive and classy.

The lipstick tube has a color-coded block at the front, which helps to spot the shade from makeup stash. Also, there is a color-coded sticker at the base of the tube, which bears the shade name and number. The lipstick has a normal twist-up mechanism, which works pretty smoothly. The lipstick bullet has a beautiful shape, which facilitates easy and smooth application. The lipstick bullet is quite firm and does not break or detach from the base. Overall, I love the packaging of these lipsticks.

“Le Gold” is a glittery golden shade. The lipstick has large golden shimmer which looks quite chunky when this gold lipstick is worn alone on the lips, but this shade works as a great top coat over other lipsticks as it adds a nice dimension to the color.

When worn alone, this shade looks gaudy and surely looks over the top. I was expecting it to be a rich metallic gold lipstick but the sparse and big shimmer particles give it a chunky appearance which is not as per my liking. The gold lipstick is good for the coming festive and wedding season as it can be used on top of other shades to create gradient looks. This lipstick can also be used to create ombre effect with normal lipstick to add glamour to your whole makeup look. It is definitely not an everyday lipstick. It can be used for parties and weddings exclusively.

This lipstick has sheer pigmentation. Though other variants are easy to build up but it is really difficult to build up this shade. One swipe delivers sheer coverage with very sparse glitters but when I tried to layer it on to make it look intense, it creased so badly due to its creamy formula. Hence, it becomes super difficult to build up the color, but the lipstick does not hide pigmented lips well. It sets to a pretty glossy finish and gives a fuller appearance to the lips.

The texture of the lipstick is buttery smooth. It glides pretty smoothly on the lips without causing any dragging. The texture is so soft and smooth. It does not cling to the dry patches of the lips. It is so lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have a thick and heavy texture. It does not feel sticky on the lips. The lipstick is quite moisturizing. It keeps my lips hydrated all the time. The lipstick is enriched with jojoba oil, which makes it a great choice for dry lips. It looks lovely on the lips and never gets patchy. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips and looks smooth on the lips. The creamy formula of the lipstick made it transfer a lot. The lipstick lasts for approximately 3 hours approximately on my lips without having any meals. It fades away completely after having meals leaving all the shimmers behind, which looks ugly on the lips and needs to be removed right away. I am glad with the fact that the shimmers are pretty easy to remove with any wet wipes. Overall, this particular shade disappointed me a bit. I was expecting an intense opaque metallic finish from this one but it turned out to be a little chunky and sheer.

• Cannot be worn alone as a lip color.
