L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey Review

Eyelid type: oily

Hello IMBBians,

There are times when we want to try something different and unconventional while doing makeup. For instance, a black smokey eye is very common. Why only black when we can play with a myriad of different colours? There are the times when we want to ditch the commonest things and channelize our inner makeup maven. I love smokey eye looks, they just amplify our beauty quotient and glam up the whole makeup game. I usually do black smokey eye, but this time I wanted to try a different colour. During these times, shades like brown or grey become the true saviour. L’Oreal Paris had launched their Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner in so many shades which are perfect for creating smokey eye look. I picked their Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner in Mystic Grey. Today, I am going to review the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner in Mystic Grey. Let’s get into the details to find out more about this.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey:

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner has a total of 6 shades in this range. They have black, brown, blue, green, grey and purple shades in this range. All these shades are beautiful, wearable and have a luxurious formulation. I picked the Mystic Grey 202 as I found it to be quite appealing to be used for a soft smokey eye look.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey Packaging

Packaging:
Starting off with the packaging, the pencil comes enclosed in the wooden body. The wooden body of the pencil is colour- coordinated which helps in quick and easy identification of the shade of the pencil. This pencil has a dual-ended body with the eyeliner on one end and the smudger brush on the other end.

The neck on both the ends has a golden band which makes the packaging attractive. The smudger brush which is made of sponge offers good quality and does not feel rough on the eyes during application. The eye pencil shuts with plastic caps on both the ends. The cap fits securely in place and is very travel-friendly. The only con with the packaging is that these pencils are not retractable; rather it needs to be sharpened regularly.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey Tip

The pencil can be sharpened using a normal sharpener. Sharpening means unwanted wastage of product which is very disappointing. The brand and shade name is embossed on the body of the wooden pencil. No details about the ingredient list are available. Overall, the packaging is simple and lightweight.

Colour:
L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner in Mystic Grey is a beautiful charcoal grey shade which is perfect for creating smokey eye looks. The colour is very unique and it will suit every Indian skin tone. The colour is rich and can be worn both on the upper and lower lash line. This grey is the best substitute for days when you get bored with the monotonous black regime.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey Smudger

Pigmentation:
Made from a combination of oil and wax, the colours are intense and heavily pigmented. Mystic Grey shows up very well on the eyes. Only a single swipe is needed to reflect the true colour intensity on the eyes. But when you start smudging you would need more swipes to achieve that perfect Smokey eye look.

Pigmentation could have been better, keeping in mind the price tag of this eyeliner. This eyeliner can be used as an eyeshadow as well. I have tried using it as a shadow and it just works fine that way. You can also use it simply to line your eyes just like a kajal.

Texture:
The texture of this eye pencil is extremely soft and smooth. It glides on smoothly like a dream without any pulling or tugging. The formula is creamy and blends like a dream. This charcoal grey is pure grey with black undertones in it but has no hint of glitter or shimmer. So, you can wear it easily at any time of the day.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey Swatch

I have to apply it lightly and then use the smudger brush for blending. I needed 2 swipes for achieving that sultry smokey eye look. The smudger brush does a great job of smudging the eyeliner effortlessly. It feels very comfortable on the eyes. It will never cause any irritation or sting your eyes. One thing that needs to be kept in mind is that during application, you have to be really swift in smudging the liner; otherwise, it sets on your eyelids quickly. Overall, I loved the formulation of this eye pencil.

Staying Power:
The staying power of this eyeliner is decent. It doesn’t last all day long. It will stay in place for about 5-6 hrs on the upper eyelids without smudging. After that, the colour fades from the inner corner of the eyes. On the water line, it stays for about 4 hrs after which the colour intensity fades. Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes after application.

The liner transfers slightly but it does not crease which is a plus point. Those who have oily lids, it is advisable to prime your lids with a loose powder or an eye primer for oil absorption and increased the longevity of the liner. This liner comes off easily with any makeup remover. I used the Garnier micellar water for removing this liner. L’Oreal Paris should improve on the longevity part and make it more long-lasting.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smokey Eyeliner 202 Mystic Grey EOTD

Overall:
Mystic Grey is the best substitute for black and I really loved using it for that sultry smokey eye look. Even though the staying power was a downside of this liner, pigmentation and texture of this liner are bang on. The formulation is superb too. My final verdict on this eyeliner is thumbs up. You can use it as a kajal or as kohl for that sexy smokey eye look. It can also be used as an eyeshadow. One product and so many uses. Nice no?? You can also try it to take a break from the black regime.
