Today’s review is about L’Oreal Elvital Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo. L’Oreal has released a new range of hair care products called “Extraordinary Clay”. These products boast about being silicon-free and claim to be filled with three different kinds of refined clays. I picked up two shampoos and one conditioner from this range. Today, I will be reviewing the “Re-Balancing Shampoo”.
€ 1.85 for 250ml
• Extraordinary Clay
• 72 hours of purified roots and hydrated ends
• Deeply purified roots, hydrated feeling ends. For perfectly balanced hair.
THE SCIENCE OF OILY ROOTS AND DRY ENDS
• Oil produced from the scalp can build up causing the roots to become visibly greasy, weighing down the hair.
• Over-washing to combat this problem can strip the fiber leaving it dry. This results in a vicious cycle of washing.
• What if you could have hair that was cared for at both ends?
THE SECRET OF CLAY FOR 72 HOURS OF PURE ROOTS AND HYDRATED ENDS
For the first time, L’Oréal Paris Laboratories have combined 3 REFINED CLAYS to create its first re-balancing range revealing perfectly balanced hair.
• Scalp feels deeply purified for 72 hours with freshness and light, lifted roots.
• Dry hair feels hydrated right to the ends for fluid, free-flowing lengths.
• Revitalizes the hair with softness, shine and bounce.
My Experience with L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo:
The packaging is like that of any other L’Oreal shampoo. It comes in a plastic container with a flap lid. The color of the packaging is turquoise and very catch. The lid opens and closes easily. The packaging is also very sturdy. The amount of product discharged can be easily controlled. The product is travel safe.
The consistency of the product is not very thick. It is not very watery either. It’s a perfect shampoo consistency. The shampoo is white in color. The fragrance is little different and reminds me of sea or beach. It’s difficult to explain the fragrance, but I love the way it smells. The fragrance doesn’t last for more than an hour. The fragrance is also very mild. Such kind of mild fragrances are preferred for winter and autumn, but not for sweaty summer. During summer, something with strong fragrance is preferred by me.
I needed a little more than a coin sized amount for my medium length hair. I normally need a coin sized portion for every wash. Massaging the product on the scalp creates enough lather. It is easy to wash off the shampoo too. I have a feeling that silicone-free shampoos don’t produce as much lather as others. It’s just my feeling, don’t know if it’s really the case.
My scalp and hair feel clean after use. My hair feel soft, shiny and bouncy. I normally wash my hair twice a week. After 2 days of wash, my hair weighs down and looks flat. I have also got my hair straightened recently. But with this shampoo my hair weighs down after 3 days. So, I can postpone my hair wash by a day or two. The fact that it’s silicone-free is a big plus. The usage of this product hasn’t caused any kind of itchiness and it hasn’t increased hair loss. I have a sensitive scalp and I am fine using this product.
Pros of L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo:
• Sturdy packaging
• Keeps hair bouncy for around 3 days
• Mild fragrance
• Leaves hair soft, shiny and bouncy
• Suitable for winter months
Cons of L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo:
• A little more quantity than other shampoos is required (per wash)
Would I Repurchase L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo?
It’s not the best I have used. I have no big complaints, but no big advantages either. I would rather buy different shampoos and try new ones.
