L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolour in Molten Caramel

By Nausheen Hasan

Lipstick is really magical. It holds more than a waxy bit of color, it holds the promise of a brilliant smile, a brilliant day, both literally and figuratively. –Roberta Gately.

And yes, I do agree, Lipstick is really really a magical product. When we wear right shade of lipstick it instantly changes our looks add a dash of colour and freshness to our face. I am a working woman and I simply love brown shades when it comes to choose a lipstick shade for a neat, sophisticated and professional look. I’ve dusky complexion and I feel that nude shades washed me out badly,be it nude-nude (Maybelline My Mahogany), brownish-nude (Mac Taupe) or pinkish-nude (Colorbar Bare). Pink also doesn’t suit me as I feel it very girly so I always prefer brown lipsticks to wear at my work place. I was in search of long lasting soft brown shade of lipstick as my everyday office shade lipstick and at that moment my sister in law advised me to get a L’Oréal Infallible Molten Caramel Lipstick as the shade is exactly as per my choice and infallible range of lipsticks are well known for their staying power.. Let’s see how it fared on me?

My experience with L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolour in Molten Caramel:

Texture-wise L’Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge Molten Caramel lipstick is smooth and moderately creamy which gives a nice moisturizing feeling to the lips for sometime post application. This lipstick glides on easily with no dragging of the lips. It neither settles into fine lines nor accentuates dryness, cracking, or flaking of the lips. Does not smudge or smear and never feels heavy. After half an hour or so after application it starts to dry down a bit and the texture becomes a little bit tacky.

There is nothing uncomfortable or sticky or even slightly greasy about this lipstick. It feels light although it fares poorly on pigmentation front which means-in a swipe or two it doesn’t goes completely opaque. When I swiped it say once or even twice the colour looks sheer and tad lighter than the colour of the bullet. One needs to layer it three-four times to get the colour in its true intensity, however I find that light brownish hue on my lips to be perfect for my office makeup. One more thing-this lipstick is not transfer free, even if I blot my lips it seems to leave lip marks on cups and glasses.

Now let’s talk about the staying power of the lipstick with which Iam totally disappointed, this beauty failed miserably on this front. The lipstick starts fading after 2-3 hours and started to disappear from the inside out of the lips. But one thing is good that it fades away evenly, after which I need to re-apply it. I have tried blotting and re-applying method also as advised by Rati in some earlier post but still it didn’t stay for more than 3 hours..sad na?

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolour in Molten Caramel:

• Poor staying power of 2-3 hours against claims of 10 hours stay.
• Easily transferable
• Feels dry after some time.
• Ladies who are not fond of shimmer might not like it.
• Pricey for just 2.5 gms of product.
• Poor in pigmentation.
• One has to layer it on for getting the true shade of lipstick.
• Once again poor-poor staying power which is the biggest con for me.

Rating: 2/5 (-2 for poor staying power despite the claim of 10 hours stay and -1 for quantity and price).

Will I but it again?

No not at all. Although L’oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge Lipcolour- Molten Caramel is a soft brown color that is perfect for daily wear — subtle enough to not be in-your-face and absolutely perfect for pulling a look together. Formula wise also this is a good lipstick still due to the poor staying power I’ll not at all recommend this lipstick. There are cheaper dupes available in the market, go get them and skip this one.
