Primers are my most favorite products after lipsticks, of course. I love the smooth look they impart to the skin and the way they act as a smooth canvas to paint anything and skin care wise, they act as a barrier between products and our skin. I had heard great things about this L’Oreal Lock Matte primer and picked it up without much delay. The primer that I am talking about today is L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Lock Primer.

L’Oreal’s Infallible Pro Matte Lock Primer primes and perfects while it smoothes skin for a better makeup application. Face primer blurs imperfections and keeps oil at bay locking in a matte finish that lasts all day.
My Take on L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lock Mattifying Primer:
The primer does not come in a box, it’s just the tube. It is a white tube with a black screw cap and a point nozzle so that only a small amount gets released at a particular time. The actual product is quite less, you may press from the tapered end and nothing will come out unless you squeeze from the center, and that’s when you realize that the actual product is filled up to full. I will like to mention that considering the amount, the price is a little steep.
This primer has no scent. Only a small amount is needed to cover the entire face. It’s a whitish liquid but does not give a white cast to the face. The color gets dispersed as soon as you start to spread the primer on to the skin.
Most importantly, this is JUST a mattifying primer and NOT a pore filling or “glow-imparting” primer and that is what it does exactly – it super mattifies the face. I also apply my pore-filling primer underneath this one to get the result I want. It does minimize facial pores, but only to a tiny extent.
This L’Oreal primer imparts a smooth look to my face, just like an insta filter 😛 It makes foundation application smooth and lasts all day long. It makes the foundation stick to face and keeps it budge-proof the entire day. I have dry-oily combination skin, and I am doubtful if it will work this well on oily skin type.
The primer does not have a silicon feel to it, looks more like a lotion. It does not feel heavy or sticky on the face.
Pros of L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lock Mattifying Primer:
- No silicone-y feel.
Cons of L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lock Mattifying Primer:
- Expensive for a drugstore product.
- Availability in India.
- Tube is half empty.
- Mostly observed to work best with foundation from the same line (it worked decently with my ABH Stick Foundation though).
- Does not blur out imperfections.
Would I Recommend L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lock Mattifying Primer?
I will not recommend an average-expensive-incomplete primer. There are many primers in the market that can do all the jobs and not just mattify. Nothing beats my Bodyography Veil primer in Neutral.
