Today, I am reviewing another eye product – this is an eyeliner pen which is supposed to ease the process of creating smoky eyes. Read on to find out how the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen – Brown Smoke fared.

The new powder eyeliner pen features a revolutionary foam tip applicator to instantly blend color, creating a defined smoky eye with no smudging needed. The gel-like powder formula housed in the product cap glides on easily, for a smoky finish that lasts up to 14 hours. A range of 4 smoky colors: Black, Brown, Taupe and Purple.

How To Use:

1. Apply the precise smoke tip along the top and bottom lash line.
2. For a more intense look, blend color outwards on the outside corner using the rounded foam applicator.
3. To refill, screw applicator back into cap.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen – Brown Smoke:

Packaging:  This product comes in a chubby pen format. It has a sponge/smudger which is to be used for the application. The sponge is conical in shape which makes it handy to apply the product. Even though this is called an eyeliner pen, you cannot really line your eyes with this as the sponge cannot create thin precise lines. Instead, this product is more apt as an eyeshadow.

The eyeshadow is located inside the spring loaded cap. When you place the sponge applicator back into the cap, it becomes saturated with the eye shadow. This is a fairly unique packaging for an eyeshadow product. But, it has its own cons; primary being you would never know how much more product is remaining in the cap.

Shade/Pigmentation/Finish:  Brown Smoke as the name suggests is a deep dark brown shade. It does not have shimmer but has a slightly shiny finish.  The eyeshadow is decently pigmented and deposits good color on the lids with one swipe. You can of course build on the intensity.

Texture/Staying Power:  The texture of this eye shadow is somewhere in between powdery and creamy. The sponge applicator drags a little but nothing too tugging. It is fairly easy to apply and will help all the beginners out there. I would say it is surely an easy way to create a smoky-eye effect without using too many products or brushes. You just need a swipe or two and a little blending to create a nice look. Of course, if you are looking for a more complex gradient smoky eye effect, then you will need more eyeshadows. But, on its own, this product is capable of creating a simple monotone smoky eye effect.

I did see a bit of a fallout during the application, but once applied, the eyeshadow stayed in place. L’Oréal is marketing as a long-wearing eyeshadow that will last for 14 hours, but on my oily eyelids, this stays for around 4 hours before the color starts to fade.

• Eyeshadow in an easy-to-use format for creating a monotone smoky-eye.
• Rich deep shade of brown.
• Nicely pigmented.
• Blends smoothly.
• Good for beginners.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen – Brown Smoke:

• Not useful as an eyeliner for precise applications.
• Doesn’t live upto the 14 hours claim and fades within 4-5 hours.
• Not helpful if you are already a pro.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend L’Oreal Paris Infallible Smokissime Powder Eyeliner Pen – Brown Smoke?
I would recommend it to beginners who are just learning to create smoky eyes.  I already have other shades in this range and will not repurchase the same shade.
