L’Oréal Paris Lovely Mocha Glossy Balm Review

Hello everyone,

Hope you are having a fun day! Today I am reviewing a lip product from L’Oreal. This is the L’Oreal Paris Glossy Balm in the shade Lovely Mocha. The shade number is 200.

Product Details from the L’Oréal Website:
L’Oréal Paris introduces its first glossy crayon format that looks after your lips! Balm and gloss are finally combined in a playful crayon shape for mirror-free application. Lips feel moisturized and look shiny with a sheer, fresh looking colour payoff.

• Balm and gloss in one crayon format.
• Enriched with flower extracts

How to Use:
Apply starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to outer edges of your lips, following the contour of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip.

My Experience With L’Oréal Paris Lovely Mocha Glossy Balm:

Packaging:
The packaging of the glossy balm is the same as any chubby stick, a lip pencil format with a twist up mechanism. I love this format, as the pencil gives more precision during application. Moreover- No sharpening required – No product wastage!

The color of the tube is the same color as the lip balm, which makes it easier to find it in your collection. The tube has a silver cap which fits tightly enough to carry it in your handbag without any worry.

Color and Pigmentation:
‘Lovely Mocha’ is a beautiful soft pink shade with a hint of brown. This is a hybrid lip product and that too, a glossy one. Pigmentation differs across colors in this range. This particular color, ‘Lovely Mocha’, is one of the more sheer ones. Even with multiple layers, you will not get a completely opaque finish. So, if you have pigmented lips like me, it will not give you full coverage.

Scent:
This lip balm is scent-free; perfect for people with a sensitive nose.

Texture:
The texture of this lip balm is similar to the Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks or the Revlon HD lipsticks, which has a gel-like texture. It glides easily on the lips, feels slick but not greasy or uncomfortable. It is quite lightweight on the lips and is also quite moisturizing. My lips do not dry out when I wear this. Even though I layer it on to get the maximum coverage possible, it does not feel heavy or patchy.

Finish:
The finish is quite glossy when you first apply it. The initial glossiness lasts for less than an hour, after which it fades to sheen. I am totally ok with this, as I generally do not like very glossy lip colors.

Longevity:
Lasting power is quite less for this particular shade, being a lighter shade. On my lips, it lasts for about two hours before fading. It fades evenly and there is no staining of the lips. It does transfer, but does not wear off completely after a drink/snack. But it disappears after a meal.

Pros of L’Oréal Paris Lovely Mocha Glossy Balm :

• Beautiful soft pink shade with brown undertones.
• Feels very lightweight and comfortable on the lips.
• Moisturizes and prevents lips from drying.
• Easy to use packaging with no sharpening needed.
• Can define lips with precision.
• Decent lasting power.
• Scent free.

Cons of L’Oréal Paris Lovely Mocha Glossy Balm :

• Glossiness lasts only for an hour.
• Low lasting power.

IMBB Rating: 3.5/5

Would I Recommend L’Oréal Paris Lovely Mocha Glossy Balm ?
The L’Oreal glossy lip balms feels comfortable on the lips and are easy to apply. ‘Lovely Mocha’ is a beautiful shade but on the sheer side. It looks and feels more like a tinted lip balm. It is a good choice for a lip product that can be quickly applied even without a mirror.

  1. Oooooh!! That is such a lovely shade – the perfect combo of pink and brown.. But I do not like this range; it is so sheer 🙁

    1. Yes Manaswini! This is a very pretty shade, but very sheer. If you want a more pigmented shade, you should check out Baby Berry or Pink me up! They build up nicely to an opaque finish! 🙂
