L’Oreal Paris Rose Symphony Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Lipstick Review

Hello fellow makeup-obsessed girlies,

I hope everyone is doing well and is in pink of their health. I can’t explain how much I hate not being regular on IMBB due to my laziness and work. However, when I came across this gorgeous lip-gloss cum liquid lipstick Rose Symphony from L’Oreal Paris’ Color Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks range; I knew I had to introduce this beauty to all of you out there.

My experience with L’Oreal Paris Rose Symphony Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Lipstick:

Firstly, I would like to tell you guys that when I first walked to L’Oreal Paris’ counter, I had intentions of buying the shade Rose Finale. However, when I applied it on my lips the shade was kind of washing me out and I was a bit skeptical about it. It was then that the SA at L’Oreal introduced me to Rose Symphony and when she applied it on my lips; I knew I had to get this baby home with me.

On a completely different note, I totally love how these French companies like L’Oreal and Bourjois name their products (Inglot are you listening?). Same is the case with this lippy. Doesn’t Rose symphony sound so delightful and English?

Packaging: Luxury at its best! Given the price of these lippies, I absolutely love and adore the packaging that L’Oreal has come up with. I have never ever seen any other drugstore brand come up with such gorgeous packaging. Even mid-end brands like MAC and Clinique can learn a lot from L’Oreal in this department. The lipstick bullet is color coded, encased in a golden packaging, a bit not-so-travel friendly (that’s because I believe it can be a bit bulky) and also has a sticker on the bottom which indicates the shade name. All in all, the packaging is drool worthy and reminds me of YSL lip stains (though they are different in a lot of ways). The only con that I was able to find with the packaging is that it catches fingerprints. So, if you murder anyone with this lipstick bullet there’s no way you that you are getting away with it (just kidding :D).

Texture and Pigmentation: Considering that it is meant to be a liquid lipstick (as claimed by the company), I find the texture quite delightful. It is non-drying (one can totally skip a balm underneath), a bit sticky (in a good way, so that it lasts longer), has the perfect consistency (that is, neither too thick nor too runny). However, it tends to feather a bit with time and also settles in the lip lines. Also, it definitely transfers (owing to its lip gloss like nature). To give you guys a better idea, the texture of this lippy is somewhat similar and superior to Maybelline lip polishes.

As for pigmentation, I believe that it will cover up only moderately pigmented lips. Girls with heavily pigmented lips should totally try this out in the store first. Also, one swipe is usually enough to build up the color to its original shade on my moderately pigmented lips.

Shade: The shade Rose symphony is a warm toned rosy pink (somewhere between baby pink and hot pink) which contains very finely milled gold and pink shimmer. I would like to mention here that the shimmer is not chunky or gritty, neither is it left behind when the lipstick fades off. This is totally an apt shade for spring-summer and brightens up my face in a jiffy. However, it might not look oh-so-flattering on duskier skin tones.

Applicator: These lipsticks have a leaf shaped-slightly tilted applicator that looks very hairy (okay not exactly hairy but, you get the idea don’t you?). Owing to the shape of the applicator, the application becomes really easy. I won’t say that it picks up the right amount of product because I have to dip it in the tube at least twice to cover up my lips.

Fragrance: It has a very faint citrus-y smell. Honestly, it’s not even detectable unless you purposely smell it in the tube.

Longevity: I really had no high hopes with this on the staying power-department. However, it pleasantly surprised me by surviving light meals and staying for 3.5+ hours. Also, this particular shade left a pleasant stain behind.

So summing up the pros and cons,

Pros of L’Oreal Paris Rose Symphony Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Lipstick:

• Drool worthy packaging.
• Did not dry out my already drier lips.
• Shade is very lively and brightens up fair complexions.
• Applicator is top-notch.
• Does not possess an overwhelming fragrance.
• Given the gloss-like texture, staying power is impressive.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Rose Symphony Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Lipstick:

• Price!!!!
• Feathers and transfers.
