L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense 1 Minute Caring Mask Review
Hi Ladies,
How are you all? It is so hot here in Australia and temperatures are around 38-40 Celsius this week and there is a huge heat wave coming up next week. I am trying to stay indoors this week and showering 4-5 times a day. I have been trying out come hair treatments/masks recently. I have an oily scalp but slightly dry hair and as a result I find it hard to find hair care products for me. I had chemically rebounded my hair twice and relaxed it once and felt it had made my hair less stronger than before and also resulted in hair loss. I had got these treatments done in reputed salons, but I guess it didn’t suit my hair well. However, since I have wavy hair with a little bit of frizziness at my hairline, I feel my hair looks much better when it is straight, so I iron my hair often. I don’t want to invest in a GHD right now, so I have been using my Remington straightener instead. This in turn has made my hair a bit more drier and weak and to that, the extreme climate here in Australia and the high UV index, I sometimes turn up with fried hair 😛
As a result, I have been trying hair masks, treatments, hot oils, etc., regularly and will be reviewing them one by one. I picked up a hair mask by L’Oreal from the “Smooth Intense” range in KL. Even though this is available in Australia, it only comes in a tub; however, it is sold in individually sealed sachets in Malaysia. I love anything that comes in travel size as well as sachets because I like to try before committing to the full-sized version.
Product Description and Claims:
L’Oreal Paris Elvive Smooth-Intense Smoothing Masque provides intense nourishment and long-lasting smoothing. Nourished and calmed, hair regains a soft, sleek and supple texture with lasting protection against frizz. It leaves hair smooth and silky to touch and is designed to be used as a weekly ritual to give hair additional care.
Price:
Around RM 15 for a pack of 4 sachets around a year ago.
My Experience with L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense 1 Minute Caring Mask:
I use one sachet for each wash. The mask is creamy white in colour and smells just like any other L’Oreal product, slightly fruity as well as a chemical smell. After using the mask and washing it off, I felt my hair was a bit softer and a little bit smoother. However, since this mask claimed to have silk protein, I expected this product to give me much more. After the very first time that I used this mask, I only felt a slight improvement in the texture, so was quite disappointed. However, after using this for 4 times now, I felt with consistent usage, my hair has become softer and tamed a little bit, and it is easier to comb through my hair. Additionally, it didn’t weigh my hair down much, but that may be because it is summer now. I didn’t use this along with the shampoo from the same range. I used this after using the L’Occitane Repairing Shampoo and also when using a mask, I skip the conditioner. I never use a mask and conditioner as I feel it is a waste to do so.
Overall, this hair mask is quite okay for a drugstore hair mask, but it is not a “wow” product for me. The Pantene 3 minute miracle I used before worked better. I am not going to repurchase this as I am sure there are better masks in all price ranges available.
Pros of L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense 1 Minute Caring Mask:
- Makes hair softer and smoother after using for a couple of times.
- Makes hair less frizzy with regular use.
- Shampoo, conditioner as well as serum is also available from the same range which when used together might reduce frizziness further.
- Only one minute is needed for the hair mask to work, so I don’t have to shiver in the shower waiting for the mask to work.
Cons of L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense 1 Minute Caring Mask:
- The results as well as the time taken to show the results is slow compared to other drugstore products I have used.
- The tub packaging is easily available in most countries which might not be very user friendly in the shower.
IMBB Rating:
2.75/5

What Remington straightener are you using? I bought a Remington after my CHI broke and honestly it works better than the CHI!
