L’Oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster Review, EOTD

L’Oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster

Attention ladies attention 😀 Guess who’s off to college 😀 😀 Officially jumped right over the “kiddo” barrier couple of days back with my boards’ results 😀 Not only I made mum lift the dreadful lipstick ban, I’m shifting to Bangalore which means I can walk into a MAC or YSL or Clinique whenever I want unlike Kolkata! So, on that happy happy note, I treated myself with a mini online haul that consisted of a couple of dresses from Dorothy Perkins & a new launch from L’oreal, Superliner Blackbuster which I’m going to review for you all lovelies today!

My Experience With L’oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster

Let’s be honest here, liquid & gel liners are not really my forte. For someone like me, felt tip liners are the ultimatest of the ultimate lifesavers or err mess-savers. Also, they just save so much effort when it comes to easy-peasy cat eyes! So in my opinion, whoever discovered these marker/pen style liners & kohls really deserve to be up there with Einstein & co. L’oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster comes in the kind of packaging that you could very easily mistake for one of your regular board markers! It’s a chubby little tube with golden inscription all over, which makes it quite pretty but makes your life utterly hard when it comes to photographing. Brrr. The tip, again, like a regular marker, not too pointy but it’s extremely versatile to draw different lines of different thicknesses as you please despite being not too slanted as well.

I was extremely impressed with the pigmentation when I swatched it on my forearm. It was very black with just a swipe & whoosh! It dried before I could put the cap back on. But however, I was completely bemused when I tried it on my lids! I had to run it along my upper lash line a good three times to get somewhat decent pigmentation & as it dried away, skin started showing right through the line. How pathetic. Also, the color varied noticeably from forearm to the lids, it looked like a weak brownish black with a couple of swipes. After about five-six relentless ( and furious) strokes, it looked black. Although, nothing jet or extreme black as claimed.

The longwear formula does live up though. It stayed on my lids for about 6 hours before it started looking a bit flaky & patchy.

Pros Of L’oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster

• Attractive black-gold packaging.
• Versatile tip. You could draw a line of any thickness of your desire.
• Dries before you can blink!
• Longwear formula is excellent.

Cons Of L’oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster

• Pigmentation on the lids is quite average.
• Requires multiple swipes to get a decent, black, non see-through line.
• Doesn’t come cheap.

This is my second disappointing liner from L’oreal Paris, back to back! Won’t be surprised if I get an anti-L’oreal-Liner complex soon. To get the best out of this one, better use a nice kohl underneath.

Quick Comparison:

Forearm swatch wise, Blackbuster is an exact twin of Liner Feutre from Bourjois Paris. You could even call the former a dupe on that note as well because Bourjois one costs about INR 855. But it’s a completely different story on the lids where Liner Feutre shows up as a deeeep black with just a couple of swipes & I’m surely going back to this one for my liner needs next time.

Will I repurchase L’oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster?

Sadly, no. It was quite a disappointment & I’d rather try my fate with one of those in-the-pot-gel-finish liners next up.

Will I recommend L’oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster?

Big fat NO. Go for Bourjois Liner Feuture or the Lakme Absolute Precision one. Or you could always try out one of my all time favorites, Soap & Glory Supercat which is pretty much a never-fail formula. Blackbuster wasn’t a blockbuster, certainly!
