L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream Review

So, I was pretty much satisfied with my not-so-expensive Aroma Magic Eye Cream and the Avon Eye Serum that I was using since the last few months. While I was checking out a few “Infallible Lipsticks” at the L’Oreal Counter, my friend started praising this eye cream like crazy, and she told me, “you must buy it!” I checked the package and saw words like anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle written everywhere on it 😐 I checked the box and then checked myself in the mirror like 100 times to see if my friend wanted to say that “its time” I should get myself an anti-ageing product. Well, I did buy it, but just because I wanted to see if an expensive eye cream can bring about “great results” or not.

Product Description:

Mature skin and young skin behave differently when exposed to external aggressions. As you age, skin takes longer to recover and responds more slowly. The complexion loses luminosity, facial features appear tired and wrinkles deepen.

Rejuvenating

The Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream has a smoothing effect on the eye area. In 1 hour, skin looks smoother and wrinkles appear reduced. Skin looks rejuvenated.

The moisturising formula helps improve the skin’s ability to behave more youthfully and is enriched with our patented Pro-GenTM technology.

The eye cream is a part of L’Oreal youth code range which consists other than this:

  • A day cream costing Rs. 1099
  • A night cream costing Rs. 1099
  • Anti-wrinkle concentrate costing Rs. 1325
  • Youth Booster Serum costing Rs. 1299

The eye cream comes in a small-sized glass pot/jar with a glossy black screw off cap/lid. The packaging is sturdy and neat, but I wish the eye cream came in a tube as I need to use my fingers to dig out the cream. I even like how Garnier Under Eye Pen has a roller ball in the front and you can just use it directly under the eye. Never mind, I will use the cute jar to store something (like pins, rubber bands, etc) 😛

My Verdict on L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream:

Before I go ahead with the review, I would like to mention that I do not have wrinkles under the eyes nor do I have stark dark circles. The only issues I have are just a few lines and I get puffy eyes when I am sleep deprived.

The eye cream is a slightly thick formula and is between light pink and cream in colour. Even though it looks thick, its not heavy. It seeps into the skin within a few seconds of massage.  I don’t find it super greasy, but it is hydrating enough to give a healthy appearance to the eye area. I like the fact that it comes with no fragrance or smell.

Within the first week of using it, I saw a “LOT” of difference in my under eye area. It appeared softer, smoother and healthier. My regular concealer worked much better than before over this. So, this is good enough to be used under the eyes before makeup as it is not super greasy or heavy.

By the second week, I saw that my post-surgery scar below my right eye was lightening. I also saw a slight improvement in the lines too. I could very much see a good amount of difference it brought about, but I don’t know what went wrong after the third week that I can’t see any further improvement :\ I don’t know if my skin has adapted to the eye cream and now it wants a heavier cream or what ! May be I was just expecting a “LOT” after seeing good instant results. Anyway, I am stilling using it every night before bed and I think I will consider buying another jar of this. Its not bad in any way (just the price :\ )

My friend who is 5 years elder to me and uses this eye cream too, swears by it !! She tells me that she is on her third jar of this eye cream and her dark circles have reduced with time. I can’t really recall if she had really bad dark circles, but now when I see, I can definitely tell her eye area looks nice.

Overall, I would recommend this eye cream, but please buy this eye cream only if you are in your late 20s and only if you have any issues (like dark circles, eye bags, puffy eyes, wrinkles).

For general use, I would still suggest the Aroma Magic Eye Cream or Gel only.

P.S.:  Just today, I found this nice video on the L’Oreal website on eye cream application. Do check !

Lastly, before some of you spank me for reviewing an expensive eye cream, here is a cost-effective tip to considerably reduce dark circles 😀

I suggested this to a friend and she thanks me every time I talk to her for the tip.  All you have to do is to take used tea bags, wash them with plain water, and allow them to cool in refrigerator. Sit back, close your eyes, place the tea bags over them and relax for half an hour. Wash off your eyes and face after that. To see the results, you will have to do this ritual every day for at least a month. Try it for yourself (if it doesn’t work, then you can always buy a nice eye cream 😛 )

Pros of L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream:

  • Lightweight cream, spreads easily.
  • Seeps into the skin within seconds of massage.
  • Has no fragrance or smell.
  • Makes under eye area healthier, soft and smooth with continued use.
  • It is not super greasy, oily kind, so can be used under makeup.
  • Will suit most skin types.
  • One jar will last for at least 3 months as you need a little quantity for each application.
  • L’Oreal products are easily available in India.
  • My friend claims that her dark circles have reduced after using this.

Cons of L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Rejuvenating Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream:

  • Jar-type packaging.
  • It is expensive (since it is “L’Oreal” + “anti ageing stuff”).
  • You need to finish it within 6 months of opening it (the period after opening is mentioned as 6 months).
  • Contains parabens.

  1. Hi Nupur,

Nice review …have seen it in stores . At what age should we start using Antiageing stuff? Please let me know your opinion.

Now , I dont use any soecific antiage stuff, im 27.However some of the Loccitane stuff I use (immmortelle range) have ingredients which help slow aging.

    1. thanks Supriya…. 🙂
See, there is no hard and fast rule tht we shud start wid anti ageing stuff as soon as we reach 30.
I have heard/read many times that we shud ideally start wid anti ageing stuff after 25….
I had a word with my derma abt the same and he told me only to start using them if you think your skin needs it and just dont fall for what all the companies r telling u …
      🙂

I have not tried the Avon serum though :(( It sounds great for the daytime na, I always find AM one to turn slightly greasy during day.
The dibbi is so cuteee :)) I may pick this up soon.. I have noticed fine lines around my eyes these days 😥

I started using Hamdard’s ‘Rogan Badam’ a couple of years back for my dark circles and it’s has been wonderful. :yahoo: :yahoo: It has even solved my puffiness issues. 😀 :preen: I’ll tell my mum to try this cream out though. She doesn’t like almond oil too much. 😛
At what age do we need to start this whole anti-ageing routine though? 25?

By the way, that tea bag tip works even better if it’s green tea instead of black. 😀
