L’Oreal True Match Blur Cream Review

Hello Lovely Ladies,

Today, I have for you a L’Oreal product, a cream which is supposed to work like Photoshop for you. I used to be a big L’Oreal fan, buying both makeup and skin care exclusively from them. I still have some of their products in circulation. Whenever I travel abroad, especially the Asian market, I like to check out their new releases. They invariably have some stuff specially for the Asian market, which for some reason, hasn’t reached India. This is one such product. Let’s find out more about it.
L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream

Product Details:
Perfect Skin Surface, Pores Invisible.  Micro Blur Technology Soft focuses skin, optically smooths pores.  Ultra light Touch.  Non greasy, weightless.  Texture fuses with skin for a barely-there sensation.

Usage:
Use alone or before foundation/BB cream. Apply a small dosage on visible pores on face or shiny T-zone. Dermatologically tested.

Price:
Baht 399/About INR 800.

Packaging:
The primer comes packaged in a small white tube with a thin nozzle and a screw-on cap – quite similar to the MUFE Step 1 Primers, only slimmer. The tube is quite easy to carry. My only grouse with it is that considering the consistency of the product, which is mousse like, despite the small nozzle, sometimes, it gets difficult to control the product coming out. It can sometimes explode out of the tube – I kid you not!

My Experience with L’Oreal True Match Blur Cream:

The funny thing that I have noticed with the drugstore brands abroad is that, even though every store will stock them and 80% of the products will be similar; still, there will be about 20% products, which one store will have and not the other. Don’t know if it’s a stocking issue or just that different stores carry different range within the same brand. So, I was looking for the new L’Oreal Matte foundation, which was not available in Thailand. Instead, I came across this. I thought I’d check reviews and take a call on picking it up, but then, I decided to try the product in store. I quite liked it and picked it up immediately.
Blur cream

L’Oreal apparently has 3-4 variants of the same/similar product in various markets – so there is this True Match Blur Cream, there is a Nude Magique Blur Cream and there is also a Revitalift one. Are these different products or have they just renamed/re-packaged products for different markets, I don’t really know! Thailand did not have the other two variants. I think, this variant is specifically for the Asian market and aptly packaged in a “white” tube. We all know Asia’s obsession with “white” skin and how Companies market specific products for this market, that too in white packaging!!

Coming back to the product in hand, the first thing that you see about the product is that it’s tinted and the shade seems alarmingly dark. However, do not worry, the product is not pigmented. The tint disappears as you apply the product. It does not offer any coverage whatsoever.
Ingredients list

The second thing which strikes you is the mousse-like texture of the product, it’s full of silicones. However, I do find the texture of this one to be lighter than other products that I have tried in this category – namely, L’Oreal Base Magique, Benefit Porefessional, etc. The product spreads easily and blends quickly.

Since it is full of silicones, it helps fill up your pores and refines the fine lines on your face giving the “appearance” of smoother, diffused skin. The effect is instant! You can feel this even when you apply it to your hands, it immediately diffuses the lines on your hand. So, it works very well in diffusing fine lines and blurring out the pores. The pores will not disappear, they will just appear smaller, more diffused. Do not expect it to suddenly make your pores disappear totally or obliterate your acne marks. I do like to apply it on my under-eye area, to take care of the fine lines and help the corrector/concealer go on more smoothly.

Again, being silicone based, it provides a smooth canvas for the foundation to go on. The foundation will apply and look more flawless. It also helps improve longevity of the foundation by an hour or so, nothing too stellar there. In this really really hot and humid weather of Mumbai, you will need a touch up around 5.5-6 hours though.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of L’Oreal True Match Blur Cream:

  • Has a lovely mousse-texture.
  • The tint, though appear dark, disappears on blending.
  • Gives a smooth canvas for the foundation to go on.
  • Blurs out the pores and fine lines to a great extent.
  • Spreads easily.
  • Light texture.
  • Travel-friendly packaging.

Cons of L’Oreal True Match Blur Cream:

  • If you have problem with silicon-based primers, this maybe a miss for you.

IMBB Rating:
4/5

The product works well, it’s not life changing, but works fairly decently for daily use. I think it is excellent, especially at the price point – its counterparts like Benefit Porefessional and Smashbox Pore Minimizer are about 3 times or more the price of this one. You must try this in the store and take a call.

  1. I have this Clinique superprimer and it feels just like this one. Somewhere, someone had mentioned, if you want your pores to be minimized, stand a little away from the mirror 😛 Still, looking for that magical that would work magic on my pores 🙂
