My Experience with L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara:

“Mascara” is a must-have item in every beauty routine that we do. Whether it is a natural everyday look or getting ready for a very special night time event. An eye makeup cannot look complete without mascara as it makes the lashes look more prominent and gives them a more awake wide-eyed look. On my recent trip to drugstore,I picked up this L’Oreal Butterfly mascara as the brush looked very intriguing to me and also me being a girly girl, the concept of getting butterfly-like fluttery lashes appealed to me very much.

The mascara comes in a very elegant-looking tube which has a reflective surface which is very prone to catching fingerprints. It has lines which mimic the silhouette of an open butterfly wing coming out from the name of the mascara which looks very pretty.

The brush:

The brush on this mascara is a “C” shaped brush with longer, more criss cross style bristles on the concave side and shorter and more densely-packed straight bristles on the other side. After curling my lashes, I use the concave longer bristles side to coat my lashes first from the base to top and after coating them, I use the other side with shorter bristles and wiggle that side on my lashes to separate them while giving a second coat which makes the lashes look more voluminous.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

The result I get is longer-looking beautiful lashes with a signature flip on the edge which does give it a “butterfly” like flutter when I blink. Hence it does live up to that claim. I do think that this mascara does provide separation of the lashes but not as much as some other mascaras I have used.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

The formula is not too dry or too wet, hence it does apply and coat very easily without any clumps or flakiness. It is a long-wear mascara for me as I have went the whole day with this on without it smearing or looking any less pretty at the end of the day than it was when freshly applied.  Keep in mind that this is not a waterproof mascara, even a little bit of water will make this mascara run on your face.  So, try not to get caught out in the rain and if you are feeling extra emotional on a particular day, try to hold those tears in. I do like that fact that it is not waterproof as they can be really hard to remove and they do take off my precious lashes with them, but this mascara gets easily removed with just soap and water. No special makeup remover needed.

This mascara does have a strong scent which is not unpleasant or bothersome to me. But if you have a sensitive nose, you may need to be wary of this product.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

Overall, I really do love this mascara and the effect it gives my lashes. I like this enough to make me want to repurchase this when I run out.

  1. wooow this looks amazing *woot* *woot* i wish i could get it here since it does not clump at all *happy dance* *happy dance* *happy dance* nice pick and actually makes the lashes appear longer *woot* *woot*

  2. God, that looks GLORIOUS. It looks like you were born were lovely lashes. (Lovely eyes in general, but that’s not the mascara is it, that’s all you!:))

I’m using the Loreal Million Lashes mascara, and while I love the effect, I find the wand a bit poky – I don’t know if I’m just using it wrong or the wand is poky or I am oversensitive. Is the Butterfly wand comfortable? No pokiness?

    1. *thankyou* Rohini ..yes its true that God blessed me with longer lashes but i also sometimes need help to make them look more pretty wch this mascara does for me.. By pokey do u mean the wand is too big for ur small eyes ?? If so i do think u will find this wand big too..the bristles come out longer towards the end of the wand which may not apeeal to u..hope this helps

      1. No, I have pretty big eyes – I mean that the bristles of the wand are uncomfortable near my lash roots when I apply the mascara, they feel sharp and – poky. *headbang* Haha, I’ve no clue if I’m making sense here. I have to be SO careful when using this mascara, if it didn’t have the bestest effect ever I would just go back to Maybelline. I’ve not experienced this sharp-bristle effect with other wands, and am not sure what is going on. 🙁

        1. If thats the case i dont think u will find this wand pokey at all.. they are rubber bristles which are soft and flexible and not pointy like the million lashes wand

  3. Holy Moly look at that effect.!! *woot* *woot* *woot* I have used the million lashes one but this one looks superb. The want looks interesting too. Let me check if i can get this from ebay. 🙂 Ur eyes look lovely *haan ji*
