Since the time I received them on behalf of IMBB, I have been trying them out in several ways. I paired them up with glosses, I used them as base, I tested how dry they feel, and how long they last. The only one thing that these new beauties always conveyed is, these stay on forever, until I choose to remove them.
Lotus Herbals has come out with 11 new lip colors, in such a gorgeous packing that I haven’t ever seen till date, in-spite of the fact that i buy so many lippies. I haven’t ever tried high-end brands and when Rati told me, only a few high-end brands like Chanel deliver their lipsticks or other cosmetics in such satin pouches, I believe not even Lancome does.
These come in a pretty pink carton with a tiny leaflet inside about the Lotus Herbals PURESTAY range. Then, the lipsticks come in fitted pink satin pouch you would have never seen. I would say get these lipsticks for those satin pouches even if you dont wear lipstick. Its a collector’s item :). The lipstick itself in encased in a shiny metallic pink casing which is mirror-shine and hence. I hate the finger prints on it, which are so aptly taken care of, by the cute pouches they come in. Sorted!
Rs. 495 for 4.2 gms
I think they are on the higher side, honestly, considering even Lakme has lipsticks in Absolute range which cost RS.395 now. For starters, they could have been within the Rs. 450 limit. But I think, the USP of this lipstick is the packaging and the staying power.
The texture of the lipstick shocks you actually. When I first swatched it on my hand, the texture felt so hard instead of a creamy gliding feel. I felt like i was rubbing a piece of crayon on my hand. Then when I applied it on, I felt the warmth melted it up and it delivered the color average in one swipe. I had to go back and put another coat for the color to build up and look non-streaky. Another thing is that unlike those thick creamy lipsticks, like the Chambor Powder matte lipsticks, these are so hard to shape your lips with. I felt that it made my lips look misshapen instead of making them look fuller.(Left to Right: Rose Bliss, Tulip Love, Fuchsia Smile)
The pigmentation on this one is quite average, nothing that you wouldn’t have seen. I was quite surprised already to find them so hard and then they appear streaky instead of giving you a burst of color.
They have come up with 11 shades which cater to all ages. They have brown plums, deep maroons, nude browns, shimmer pinks and light bricks and beige.Honestly, the colors are so lotus-like, they are so overlapping . There is some hint of glaze or shimmer in all lipsticks which I dislike. There are only two or three of them which I think are completely shimmer-free.There is no clear distinction between many shades, I get confused with so many of them, like Tulip Love, Bubbly Nude and Rose Bliss, all have shimmer and all if applied lightly might look same. Hence, I would have loved if they had some red, mauve, brick and pink, clean and simple, shimmer and glaze-free.
Since the texture is hard, you have to swipe it on and on to get the color you want. I wish they were lighter to apply and creamy to feel but long-lasting to set, which they are, only if you though the tedious swiping procedure. Not something I want on the go.(Top to Bottom:Rose Bliss, Fuchsia Smile, Tulip Love)
The finish of most of them is either shimmer or glaze.Tulip Love has glaze, Fuchsia Smile has shimmer and Rose Bliss has gold shimmer to it. so you can imagine.Imagine a Loreal Infallible which is hard, I mean these Lipsticks set exactly like Infallible ones, but they are not as buttery, they feel hard ion the tube and during application too.
Here is what will give all the above details a benefit of doubt. The lipstick once applied, sets to dry perfection and stays on and on forever. I wore this often, had meals and beverages, only to see that the lipstick had lightened in the inner lip but was intact on the outside. Then, after so many hours, almost the end of day, I had to remove it manually because it wasn’t ready to budge. This is the redeeming factor of the lipstick.
The amazing part is that even thought these set, they feel very light and not dry even when they set. I think that shows that the formula has been thought of and made to set and not budge, but still not to dry out lips.
As a base:
Since these set, I would love to use them as a base to a gloss or a sheer lipstick. For that reason, they are perfect!
Unique Selling Point(USP):
- The packaging.
- The satin pouches.
- The staying power.
- Stays on forever.
- Does not smudge.
- Sets to perfection.
- The most beautiful satin pouch on a lipstick you can ever get.
- The prettiest metallic pink packaging you can ever get.
- Shimmer and glaze in many of the shades.
- Few matte/creme shades.
- Drags a lot when you apply.
- Not creamy.
- Feels hard to apply.
- Pigmentation could have been better.
In case you are looking for a lipstick that stays on and on, if you like a shade in this range, in case you need a base for a lip gloss or another sheer lipstick, then get this. Personally, niether the shades, nor the texture is to my liking.
