Most of us on IMBB are familiar with Deeptima. I personally love her. Not only for the gorgeous makeup stuff that she does but also for who she is as a person. We have had our ups and downs during this long friendship but we have been able to stick together for good. I would say that if I ever had a little sister, she’d probably be like Deeptima. 🙂 Check out her blog http://beautyunleashedwithdeeptima.blogspot.in/ and youtube videos HERE. Read on to know more about her. 🙂
1. When and how did you start blogging ? Any difficulties that you faced?
I never planned to blog, I started off from Youtube , I tried blogging but found it really boring because I had no clue about it, all the people I knew on YouTube were from other countries until one day i came across Rati’s videos and then her blog. My very first blog post on this blogosphere was on IMBB only and after that i just thought of giving another try to blogging and made my own blog with little patience I tried and learned new things and found it to be fun to post pictures, list products and write reviews on blog. Most of all i got to see so many like-minded bloggers so I decided to stay.
There were no major difficulties, It all started off as a hobby, and am really happy that I was able to hand on it for this long. I still keep looking up for ways to upgrade and innovate.
2. What do you cover on your blog? Any specific interest areas?
Basically my idea behind blogging was to post my makeup looks and product pictures and sometimes reviews as it was not possible to include everything in a single video and also at times the picture quality used to deteriorate in videos. I have different audiences on Youtube and on blog, so you can find youtube updates and product reviews(rather how to) on my blog.
I love doing and watching makeup tutorials, but I simplify love dramatic and artistic makeup looks, special effect and character makeup styles.
3. You also make youtube videos. Where do you draw your inspiration for making videos?
Youtube is my forte. I used to watch tutorials and that’s where I learned most of the things I know today, rest came with practice. I remember the first video I watched on youtube was of Lauren Luke aka panacea81. There are so many talented guru’s on youtube and there is so much to learn. Am always open to new ideas, and I get inspired by anything which is different and creative(and pretty…)
4. What essential qualities do you think are required to make youtube videos? Any tips for people who are starting up with youtube?
Skills, Innovation, appetite to learn new things and mainly Your Attitude towards Criticism , if you take criticism positively and if you can differentiate between constructive suggestion and meaning less, baseless, demotivating comments nothing can stop you from making videos on Youtube. Just trust yourself and compete with yourself.
To start up with your own channel to need to have a thick skin, there is no way you can avoid negative comments and people, be determined and enjoy what you do, the more you grow the more people will try to pull you down. Don’t take anything personally, after all people who love you are the ones who actually know you.
It is difficult to pick one single brand or product, but currently am enjoying coastal scents hot pots, my Sigma brushes specially tapered blending E40 , Angled top Kabuki F84, NYX Black Label lipstick in Dusty Rose, elf contouring blush and Bronzing powder, elf eyelash curler…
Am not much into skincare, I don’t use a whole bunch of products but I love Konad cleansing foam,The Nature’s co Raspberry face wash, Seacret Cuticle oil and body lotion.
7. Current makeup trends you are lusting after.
Current trend is all about colours, keeping the wearable aspect in mind, I really like how you can add a touch of colour, sometimes bright bold lips not necessarily red, or flushed cheeks or coloured liner. Obviously not all together. 😛
8. How much time and money do you devote for your blog?
I don’t have a routine, but if I have some pending posts/videos I can work for hours and I usually post reviews on my favorite products, or requested products.
I don’t buy products just for the sake of review , I hate asking for money from my parents, I am a bargain shopper,I save up to buy products that I want. I do give a little treat to myself from time to time. 😛
9. Something special about your blog that you’d like to share with our readers.
I feel my makeup tutorials are easy to follow and easily attainable . Being a budget buyer I use products that are not very expensive and I love to play around with colours.
10. Quick makeup tips you could give to our readers.
Brown is the one colour that is a must have in your eyeshadow collection, if you love bright colours likes blue, green etc but you are not sure how to pull it off, use a brown eyeshadow to blend the harsh edges and make the look more wearable.
For dark complexion use a darker brown and for light skinned people light shades of brown works well.
