Lush Cosmetics Christmas Launches
LUSH’S FROST FAIR IS IN TOWN
BUT YOU NEED TO BE QUICK … BEFORE THE BIG THAW!!
Lush traditional Christmas imagery comes from a bygone age of snow-covered buildings, excited children ice-skating on lakes and puffed out robins on icy shrubbery. These scenes depict how England used to be in the olden days, when the severity of the climate meant it was cold enough to actually freeze the Thames allowing people to skate on the river, parade on the frozen waters and hold festivals and fairs on them – known as Frost Fairs.
Today, it’s unimaginable that the Thames would freeze solid enough to enable us to do all of these things and that’s partly because of the effects of climate change. Although we may occasionally still get really cold winters like the last one in the UK, we have seen a global warming trend, with 2009 being the 5th warmest year on record and 2010 set to be the warmest.
THE WEIRD & THE WONDERFUL …
Lush The Böögg bath ballistic (Rs 310) …
inspired by the Swiss custom of burning winter … the Böögg is an effigy of a snowman whose head is full of fireworks, who is then placed on a bonfire. However long it takes for his head to explode symbolizes how good the summer is going to be. So this ballistic is shaped like a snowman’s head, with colourful ‘fireworks’ inside that are made of slower fizzing bubble bar. Why not see how long yours takes to explode in your tub – it might be a sign of a good summer! The lavender, rosemary and thyme fragrance means it’s also really good for your skin. Vegan
Lush Snow Fairy tinted lip balm (Rs 470) …
Snow Fairies are extremely popular at Lush, they visit our shops every year and makes thousands of Christmas wishes come true. This year we thought we’d try to make the Snow Fairies wishes come true with this new tinted lip balm containing all the ingredients we thought a Snow Fairy would like to keep her pout pink, soft and deliciously sugary. Containing softening murumuru butter and cupuacu butter, along with dried raspberries, sherbet and icing sugar … lips will be left soft, smooth and a pretty pink. Our tinted lip balms can also be used as a cheek highlighter – giving all Snow Fairies their pretty, rosy hue. Vegan
Lush Sugar Plum Fairy shower scrub (Rs 225) … a
fantastic scrub to keep Sugar Plum Fairies looking their very best. Containing fair-trade sugar to scrub away the excesses of the season and to help reduce the appearance of cellulite on thighs. The fragrance is a blend of sultry jasmine and ylang ylang, along with plum kernal oil. Use this in the shower and be confident in donning your tutu and pirouetting around the Christmas tree! Vegan
THE FOOD OF THE FAIR …
Lush Glögg shower gel (Rs 890 for 250gm) …
the traditional Glögg is a spicy, warming, fruity mulled drink for keeping you nice and toasty whilst wondering around the delights of the Fair. The Lush version is a shower gel with a similar warming fragrance to spice up your shower time! Containing fresh orange and lemon juices, red wine, brandy, cinnamon and clove, this spicy wash will warm the cockles, helping to improve circulation and fend off the cold. Vegan
Lush Iced Wine shower jelly (Rs &50 for 240 gm)
… a Canadian winter beverage, Iced Wine is made by picking frost-bitten grapes. It has a very strong but fruity flavour, which we’ve used in this shower jelly. Containing grapefruit oil and bergamot for a refreshing zinginess, along with buchu oil to add a touch of the tropical. Freeze or chill it for an invigorating wash to wake you up on cold winter mornings. Vegetarian
Once you’ve exfoliated lips with Lip Dip, smother them with some Maple Taffy lip balm (Rs 350) and wait for the stampede under the mistletoe! Inspired by the Canadian festive tradition of rolling sticky, gooey maple sap in snow and making a sweet lolly treat, this lip balm is made of 20% maple syrup for that delicious flavour. There’s also a blend of super moisturising butters like illipe butter, shea butter and carnauba wax, as well as glycerine, to really soften and lock in moisture. Vegan
Lush Angel’s Delight soap (Rs 300 for 100 gms)
… if you’re a fan of the popular Angel’s Delight dessert then you’ll love this classic Lush soap. A yummy pink soap, adorned with stars, moons and all things glittery – tangerine oil, orange oil and gardenia oil provide the sweet, jelly baby fragrance and also really work to cleanse, refresh and detox the skin. Vegan
Lush Snowcake soap (Rs 315 for 100 gms)
… a Lush classic and best seller, a slice of Snowcake smells just like the irresistible almond marzipan on the Christmas cake. Lather up with gorgeous rose absolute, that soothes dry and stressed skin, and berry scented cassie absolute. This year’s is decorated with Norwegian cookie cutter designs. Vegan
WINTER WONDERS …
Lush Snow Globe soap (Rs 235 for 100 gms)
… imagine yourself inside a snow globe – snow fluttering all around and a feeling of being refreshed, revitalized and uplifted. Well, this soap will make you feel all of the above, with a citrusy lemon myrtle, grapefruit and lemongrass blend that will bluster your senses and wake you up on cold winter mornings. The whole soap is in the shape of a snow globe, with white circles to imitate the snowflakes. A beautiful alternative to all the traditional festive offerings. Vegan
TRADITIONAL Christmas OFFERINGS …
Lush Mandarin’s Tea Party soap (Rs 420 for 100 gm)
… for some, it’s a very English tradition to give children a Rupert Bear annual at Christmas. Open pretty much any Rupert annual and you’ll be whisked away with Rupert and chums to faraway lands for exotic adventures, tea parties and a touch of oriental magic. In the 1969 annual Rupert attends a Mandarin Tea Party, which is the inspiration for this spicy, fruity, refreshing soap. There’s obviously a lot of mandarin oil in this one, but there’s also fresh orange juice, crystallized ginger and dried orange slices for a real warming, exotic, spicy touch. The fragrance is a version of the beautiful new Orange Blossom perfume, with a touch of neroli to lift your mood and keep your spirits up in the bleak mid-winter. Vegan
Lush Cinders bath ballistic (Rs 250) …
this is one ball you won’t want to miss out on, a fire-cracker of a bath treat inspired by the fairytale of Cinderella, who slept by the fireplace and got covered in cinders. Drop into a pre-run bath and listen as the popping candy fizzles and crackles just like a real fire. Scented with almonds and cherries for a festive marzipan aroma, there’s also almond essential oil to accentuate the scent. Sweet orange oil lifts the spirits and adds some cheer to dark, winter days. There’s also a touch of cinnamon leaf oil to warm the body, just as if you were by a real fire. Vegan
Lush Christmas Eve bubble bar (Rs 320) …
whatever you do on Christmas Eve, make soaking in the tub with this bubbly, relaxing treat one of your traditions. Crumble under running water and lie back amongst the masses of jasmine and ylang ylang scented bubbles. Both are relaxing and calming – but also aphrodisiacs, so bathing with this one could be the start of other, more exciting Christmas Eve traditions! There’s also a touch of Irish moss powder to soften the skin and make the water silky. The water will be turned the majestic deep blue of the night sky and the bubbles float atop like clouds – you can just imagine Santa’s sleigh making it’s way across! Perfect to help escape from the christmas stresses and calm anxious or worried minds enough for a good nights sleep. Vegan
