Lush Heena Caca Marron

Hello Lovely Ladies,

How are we all doing today? I am sharing with you all my experience with Lush Henna Caca Marron. Lush products are handmade and organic & I really liked the blocks of Henna they had in their display and was tempted to try out.

Product Details:
Dark red-brown like fresh conkers and as shiny as a new penny. Caca Marron gives a dark red, rich chestnut brown which causes people to comment on its beauty. Really! The coffee gives a strong, deep brown and red henna gives it a glossy, dark red colour to grab the attention. The wild herby, coffee and clove scent is wonderfully natural.

Price: Rs. 1020 for 6 blocks of heena (approx 350 g) (I have already used 3 blocks)

Packaging: Lush doesn’t believe in fancy packaging hence, the Henna block was wrapped in a paper and was handed over.
Fragrance: It does have typical heena smell but I also experienced an additional strong fragrance of cloves. Fragrance is not disgusting but bearable.

Ingredients: Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Indigo Herb (Fera tinctoria), Ground Coffee (Coffea arabica), Fresh Organic Lemon Juice (Citrus limonum), Irish Moss Powder (Chondrus crispus), Clove Bud Oil (Eugenia caryopyllus), Citral (Citral), Geraniol (Geraniol), Eugenol (Eugenol), Citronellol (Citronellol), *Limonene (*Limonene), *Linalool (*Linalool), Perfume (Perfume)

Usage directions:
1. Cut henna up into small pieces and put in a heat-proof bowl.
2. Add hot water and let steep. Mix to a yogurt-like consistency.
3. Put on gloves and apply from back to front, coating hair thoroughly.
4. Cover in cling wrap for a more vibrant red. Leave on for one to six hours.
5. Rinse, shampoo, and condition hair.

My Experience with Lush Henna Caca Marron:
We are used to using Henna in a powdered form, soaking it in water, applying it & keeping it for few hours and then washing it. Well, it is pretty much the same thing but in case of Lush henna you need to powder the henna yourself! It is a bit tedious and messy job and it would want you to give up the idea of applying Lush Henna but the luxury price paid for this won’t let your muscles stop working!

Once grated/crushed, you get a grainy consistency dark black color henna which needs to mixed with hot water and applied immediately to hair. This henna doesn’t need any resting time & can be applied instantly. The texture after soaking in water remains grainy and there will lot of grainy mess when you apply it.

I kept it for roughly 5 hours and then rinsed it well. Though I was not planning to shampoo my hair immediately but the tough grainy henna refused to come out of my hair. I had to shampoo my hair. The color it claims in chestnut brown type but actually it didn’t give me that color. It did cover few greys not in henna-fashioned orange color but a proper brown color but still different from rest of my hair.

Pros of Lush Henna Caca Marron:
1. Covers grey
2. Conditions hair well
3. Does not dry out the hair
4. Leaves hair shiny

Cons of Lush Henna Caca Marron:
1. Grainy texture – creates lots of mess
2. Doesn’t give color exactly as claimed
3. Messy process of powdering the henna
4. Very costly
5. 3 months life only. Needs to be used quickly
6. If not stored properly can create fungus

Would I Repurchase Lush Henna Caca Marron?

For Rs. 1020 and so many cons above, I would not dare purchase it again!

    1. I used 2 blocks parita for my hair… a little longer than shoulders but not upto waist. i guess 3 blocks should be sufficient for your hair 🙂

      1. When I was in college, I used to use some brand which used to come in cardboard box like MTR/MDH. I really loved that;that never dried my hair. Recently I purhased ‘Nupur’ brand, but my hair looks like hay after usage :(..have stopped using henna again.

  1. I have used this one and I completely agree that its a dud. There was no change in colour of my Jet black hair and its way too expensive. I would rather buy the local henna and use it as it gives much better effect than this one

  2. I have used the brown one. I did like it initially but slowly the charm wore off and i figured I’d just go to the parlour for my regular haor color sessions. I wish it were cheaper or you had the option to buy half. 🙂

    1. u know sukanya i read your review before getting it! I really liked the effect on your hair… the color shows up but only in light! The chestnut color should be visible otherwise also no? 🙂

  3. Hey ..even I got Caca Noir!! Very messy…there were big big chunks of henna still there as i grated with a stone! Terible.I expected better from lush…N no ..my mums “orange hair” remained inchanged :'( Such a waste of money!
