Lush Lip Service Lip Balm Review

Lush Lip Service Lip Balm Review

By Priyam Goyal

Hello everyone,

Cracked and chapped lips has been the ultimate woe of every lady friend of mine (men too – though they don’t really care about it). Like most ladies out here, I have tried out many lip balms, but my solution to lip problems came in a little tin pot from Lush.

Ingredients:

Lush lip service is made from natural and organic ingredients. It contains fair trade shea butter, apricot kernel oil, glycerine, cocoa butter, beeswax, organic extra virgin olive oil, tangerine oil, flavor, limonene, and linalool.  The absence of parabens makes it my favourite.

Price:

Rs. 630 for 8 gm.

Product Claims:

Lush claims that “lip service” has been their original super softener and has been their bestseller for more than a decade. It’s a rich blend of oils and butters caresses and soothes, while tangerine and mandarin oil gives it a delicate zing.

My Experience with Lush Lip Service Lip Balm:

Lush Lip Service is the ultimate solution to my lip problems. I have very dry lips and they become even more troublesome in winters. Lush Lip Service moisturizes the lip and makes it very soft and supple. The shea butter in the balm makes it very moisturizing. It soothes extremely dry and cracked lips and prevents it from peeling. The staying power of the lip balm is very good and does not have to be constantly reapplied. I usually wear it half an hour before wearing lipstick. This makes the lips primed and ready for makeup.

The best part about the lip balm is that it does not have any strong or lingering fragrance and taste. I personally hate strong-smelling lip products. This one has a very faint smell of tangerine. The product doesn’t have any peculiar taste, just a tinge of tangerine. The lip balm is non tinted, which works well for me. It’s a no fringe, simple and very effective lip balm.

The lip balm comes in a small, easy to carry tin pots with a screw cap. Fancy packaging has never been Lush’s forte and the packaging of lip service is not very convenient. The screw cap is a little difficult to handle and if the cap is not replaced properly, it gets difficult to reopen the tin pot. Also, I wish this balm came in a stick form as I don’t like scooping the products out with my fingers every time.

Another flip side of the lip balm is that it solidifies very quickly. You need to keep it in a warm place to melt it. It becomes very difficult to apply when it has solidified. The balm stays melted when it is kept in the pocket, and since I usually carry it around with me in my pocket, it is not much of a problem with me. I sometimes also place it in the sun for a few minutes to make it melt. I know this can be a bit of a hassle, but the results from using this lip balm is too good.

Lush lip balm is a multipurpose product and can be used to soften toes, cuticles, elbows and heels.

Pros of Lush Lip Service Lip Balm:

  • Moisturizes and soothes very dry and cracked lips.
  • Does not have to be reapplied constantly.
  • Very mild tangerine fragrance.
  • No strong taste.
  • Very effective for cracked, dry and chapped lips.
  • Can be used to soothe toes, elbows, cuticles and heels.
  • Natural ingredients.

Cons of Lush Lip Service Lip Balm:

  • Solidifies in low temperature.
  • Inconvenient packaging.
  • Expensive.

Would I Recommend Lush Lip Service Lip Balm?

I would totally recommend this product to everyone facing severe dry, chapped or cracked lips. Though it is not tinted and does not come in different flavors, it truly heals the lips and makes it soft and supple. I am halfway through my second pot and would definitely buy it again.
