Lush Sandstone Soap Review

Hi friends,

So, if I get a Lush goodie for hair (Lush Copperhead), there has to be a goodie for body too…is it not?!! We need to play fair 😛 I do not pick up Lush soaps very often, as they tend to disintegrate constantly. However for me, it is very easy to get carried away with these yummy smelling goodies!

Lush Sandstone Soap

Lush Sandstone Soap Packaging:
As per Lush’s policy of being environment friendly, there was zero packaging on the soap. The soap is a yellowish brown bar cut into size as per its weight. One side of the soap is dark brown in color, which has the sand particles. The rest of the portion compromise of glycerin and oils solidified and intermixed with soap. It has a distinct lemony fragrance.

Price:
$7.95 for 3.5 oz.

Lush Sandstone Soap Ingredients:

My Experience with Lush Sandstone Soap:

In my prior experience with Lush soaps, I have learnt that using the whole bar leads to wastage as it crumbles fast. Hence I always cut them into smaller slices. This is an exfoliating soap, so I use it only once or twice a week. I found the sand particles quite abrasive, so I use that portion of the soap mostly on my ankles, elbows and feet.

The inspiration behind including sand in this soap was from Brazilians who mix sand with oil for removing the dead cells.

I did find that the soap helps to clean well. Using this soap makes me feel very refreshed and more awakened. It contains glycerin and vegetable oils, which provide mild hydration. My skin does feel smooth, but it does not completely negate the requirement of body lotion afterwards. For a normal skin type, it might be beneficial but not for very dry skin type.

Lush soap

The product claims to provide brightening and toning as well, but I barely noticed any benefit. The soap hardly stays on our skin for the coriander and gardenia oils to work.

It has a citrusy fragrance, which is very mild.  The fragrance does not linger on the skin for long. After using my body lotion, the fragrance gets completely masked. I found the fragrance very pleasantand uplifting.

Soap

The major difficulty I face with Lush soaps is that the pieces fall behind in the tub after shower. It was the same scenario with this soap as well. Also, this soap crumbles and dissolves very fast. Hence it has to be kept in dry place covered in soapbox. I usually prefer Dove soaps, so comparatively, I found them more convenient to use and work at par with this Lush soap.

Would I Repurchase Lush Sandstone Soap?
I have never repeated the same Lush soap as I find it more troublesome to use than the benefits it offers. The same rule would go for this soap as well, but that does not mean I would not try the other soap options from Lush…. Never say never! 😛
