Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturiser Review
By Alaka S.
Hi friends,
I am here with a review of one of my favorite moisturizers and it’s from Lush – Skin’s Shangri La! Now before I go ahead with the review, you might be curious about what Shangri La means. Shangri La is actually a fictional mystical utopian place in the Oriental world. I picked up this cream because I am on a personal mission to try all the Lush moisturizers that they have (because they all are so good) and by far this is in the top 5 🙂
About Lush Shangri La Facial Moisturizer:
Like most of the Lush products, the cream comes in a black recycled plastic tub. The cream has a faint brown color and it’s very smooth and silky in texture. The cream has light almond and vanilla aroma to it. The good part is that the fragrance does not linger for long after the application. I accept that sometimes I feel a little hesitant to dip my finger in a tub full of facial cream, but it is a very minor flaw compared to all the goodness it delivers. The cream also comes with a label of the time within which it should be used, as it does not have any preservatives.
Price:
It is priced at $49.95 for 1.5 oz.
My Experience with Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturiser:
Before I go ahead, I would like to mention that I have dry skin, so I tend to prefer heavier creams. The Lush sales assistant told me that it has jojoba oil and almond oil, but I was so glad that it is not greasy at all. Now the star attraction of this cream is “Queen of Hungary water,” which is a mixture of …hold your breath…27 shots of vodka, rosemary and water in a batch. When I found out that it had alcohol, it made me very apprehensive as we all know how alcohol dries our skin. But surprise…surprise… it did not dry my skin at all. In fact, it is very calming and hydrating.
The cream claims to take the skin to a happy land and yes, I agree to that! Whenever I apply this cream, it makes me feel very happy as I feel like I am doing a good deed for my skin 🙂 Though the cream does not completely replace my need for a serum for anti-aging, but I did find out that it made my skin look healthy and supple. The contents of wheat grass and aloe vera make it very nourishing.
It is extremely easy to blend and gets easily absorbed in the skin and forms a light veil without feeling too greasy. My skin feels super nourished for the whole day. Even after 6 hours, my skin does not feel the need for re-moisturization. I find it very convenient to use during summers for both day and night time though during winters I would prefer this more as my day cream only.
Pros of Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturiser:
- Very hydrating and nourishing cream for dry skin.
- Can be used as both day and night cream.
- Skin feels moisturized even after long hours.
- A little amount is enough for complete coverage.
- Easy to blend and gets absorbed without greasy finishing.
- Nourishes the skin without causing any dryness.
- Mildly fragrant, does not linger on much after application.
- Natural handmade product.
- Provides skin with anti-aging cream benefits.
Cons of Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturiser:
- Would be suitable for oily skin only during winter daytime.
- No sunscreen benefits..
- Price.
IMBB Rating:
4/5. The -1 is for price and the reason that I have to dip my finger to take the cream out.
Would I Repurchase Lush Skin’s Shangri La Facial Moisturiser?
