MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow Makes Your Eyes Appear Fresh and Awake

“One eye sees, the other feels.” – Paul Klee

Hi Ladies,

How was NYE? Did you party or do anything interesting? Well, I decided to stay in with some friends this year and bring the New Year in domestic style – homemade food, drinks and loads of banter. It was peaceful yet rewarding to say the very least!

MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow

So it’s finally 2015, and I wish every one of you gorgeous women loads of love, magical kisses with your loved one, tones of happiness and prosperity in abundance. To kick start this kick-ass year, I was thinking of something bright and cheerful to represent the year before us, so I decided to share my two cents on a favourite eye shadow of mine from MAC called Aquadisiac! Sounds like Aphrodisiac eh! Well, when you wear it, it certainly is!  The little story behind me buying this particular shade is that whilst going through some YouTube tutorials on various eye looks, I stumbled upon this exotic teal and brown eye shadow look that instantly made me sigh! I was like whoa, just imagine if I can pull this off. So, off I went in search for my teal shade, whilst keeping my fingers crossed that I wouldn’t look horrendous in a perky colour such as teal. The most daring I have ever been before with shadows has probably been dark blues, so throwing caution to the wind, I went ahead and purchased this striking shade.

My Experience with MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow:

MAC describes this hue as a “deep sea turquoise” and has a subtle sheen. It basically has a lustre finish to it, so it is shimmery but not over the top. To ensure I am able to seize the exact colour on my eyes, first I prep my eyes with primer and then a white base colour. Although MAC colours are pigmented, however, one needs a proper canvas in order to replicate the same colour on the skin (especially Indian skin) and we all know white is the best canvas for any colour, right girls!

I would have never have imagined a teal colour with brown and this shadow blends really well with brown or even pinks. Seeing experts do it on YouTube is great and doesn’t always look good on us, but tried and tested and approved, yay! For most of us who have brown eyes, Aquadisiac makes the eyes pop and makes you look so fresh and awake. For those of you who are experimental with your eyes, this is a must have and for those of you who are skeptical, well like me too earlier, once paired with more neutral shades like n*des, browns or pale pinks, this is a must try!

It’s a gorgeous shade that I would probably reach out for more in the summers as the name suggests, it’s so reminiscent of the sea, beaches and pastels, but you can wear this anytime if teamed correctly. I would normally go for more warmer shades in the winters, but what the heck, it is you who decides what to wear and how to carry it off!

MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow

MAC isn’t wrong by claiming that it’s well pigmented and yes it does blend well. Doing swatches on the hand doesn’t give you its true essence, as it looks pasty directly on skin, hence you must use a white base coat before applying this if you want density and not just a feathery barely-there hint of colour.

Here are some swatches and my favorite teal and brown eye look that I recreated here for you guys. Hope you like! In a nutshell, dab on some white base colour in the middle of the eyelid and blend in not going up to the crease. Dab on the Aquadisiac on the eye lid and pat in using your shadow brush. Use two shades of brown for the crease line of the lid and the outer corner V and blend in till it reaches the Aquadisiac shade. Then do a winged liner with a black liquid eye liner. On the lower lid, I have used my Maybelline Colossal Turquoise pencil to line the waterline and then dabbed some Aquadisiac on my lower lash line. Beneath it I’ve used brown shadow to line under the lashes. Voila!

MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow

Pros of MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow:

  • Highly pigmented.
  • Blends well.
  • Has a soft lustre.
  • Bright colour that makes brown eyes pop.

Cons of MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow:

  • If worn directly on the skin without a white base colour, it looks washed out and doesn’t do justice to the actual shade.

Would I Repurchase MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow?

Yes, I would as I personally love teals, blues, greens etc. and this shade is a must-have in my collection.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5

Conclusion:

Don’t worry about too much colour on your eyes, as the more the merrier, hence I use with Turquoise kajal too but be sure to tone down your blusher and lipstick. I love wearing this shade with monotone outfits such as whites, pinks or even blacks…just adds a playful splash of colour and contrast.

Au revoir!

xoxo
