Hello, beauties!

MAC is the dream makeup brand of every makeup lover. I am super happy that I purchased my first MAC product through the IMBB Sponsored Scheme. So, big thanks to IMBB. 🙂 Since I love liquid lipsticks I picked up MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in the shade Carnivorous. MAC has recently included a few new shades to this range and most of them are either nude or bold. Carnivorous is a shade from their bold section. Read on to know more about it.

My Experience with MAC Carnivorous Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour:

Packaging:
Just like other MAC products, this liquid lipstick also comes in a very classy black box. The actual lipstick comes in a beautiful see-through tube with a black cap. It looks so nice and sleek. This clear tube is also easy to identify. It also has a nice, pointed applicator. The applicator has a flat side, which helps to apply lipstick quickly and its pointed tip helps to define the lips well. I really like this packaging and the quality of the tube is also very good.

Shade:
MAC offers a wide variety of shades and I picked up a super bold shade. This shade is called Carnivorous and it has been described as a black red. On my lips, it looks like a dark vampy red shade. It looks very attractive and enhances my medium skin tone. It will suit all skin tones, though. Such bold shades are not preferred by everyone but I have a big crush on such vampy shades.

Carnivorous makes my face appear bright and my teeth look white. Though people claim that such shades are meant only for winters I believe they look beautiful during summers, too. This shade is quite pigmented and requires only one swipe for a nice colour pay off. Thanks to the pigmentation, it can hide pigmentation as well.

Texture and Quality:
This lipstick has a super soft, mousse-like, extremely creamy texture that glides effortlessly on the lips without any tugging. It feels luxurious, just how a MAC lipstick should be. It goes super smoothly on my lips and feels very light. It feels very comfortable on the lips and never looks patchy or feels sticky. Also, layering does not make it heavy.

It takes a few minutes to dry out completely, and once dries down, it turns into a perfect, soft-matte texture. It looks so beautiful! But this lipstick needs a lip liner underneath for that perfect, neat and clean application. Since this is a dark shade and has a super smooth texture, it is a little difficult to keep control over the applicator.

Many people claim that MAC has improved the formula of this range. The previous range was very dry in nature. I have not used the previous formula but this new shade has a super smooth and non-drying formula. It feels very comfortable on the lips and has a nice matte finish. It doesn’t feel dry at all.

It provides a good amount of hydration to the lips and keeps them soft for long. It will suit dry lips as well as it never highlights dry patches. This soft formula doesn’t smudge or transfer automatically, but the problem starts only after a meal. With oily food, this formula does transfer and smudge slightly. So, I can’t say that it’s a 100% transfer proof lipstick.

Staying Power:
This lipstick lasts long with normal food – around 8 hours. It can survive normal food nicely without creating any mess. Since the formula is not fully transfer-proof, it looks faded from the centre of the lips after a heavy meal. Also, the lip line looks slightly messy after an oily meal. Still, the lip color does not flake or settle into the fine lines. I can easily reapply it and another layer doesn’t make it patchy. The lipstick still feels comfortable and soft on the lips. Also, it gets removed easily from the lips without leaving any stain behind.

Overall:
It is an amazing liquid lipstick and I love this comfortable, lightweight and soft formula. Yes, it smudges a little but I still love it. It actually feels like a luxurious lip colour. Also, Carnivorous is a super bold and sexy shade, which I think every makeup junky should have in her collection.
