MAC Dazzleglass Crème Review, Photos, Swatches

Hello everyone!

A while ago, I bought two Dazzeglass Crèmes from MAC’s Tartan Tale collection and thought I would review them for you. So let’s start!
The official spiel from the MAC website on the Dazzleglass Cremes is:

M∙A∙C cult favourite Dazzleglass with a creamier, smoother, but no less shiny or dazzling effect. For those who are drawn to the luxe of cream lips, but still want the dazzling allure of its inspiration, this is it.

So basically a different take on the Dazzeglasses that MAC usually has. I will say that whereas the traditional Dazzelgasses have been quite sticky, the texture of these is more creamy and the liquid is more runny, and not as thick as the Dazzeglasses. As with other Dazzelglasses, there is quite a bit of shimmer.

MAC released 5 shades in this range, all limited edition ones. The two that I got are Lightly Prancing and Soft Dazzle and these are the two I will be reviewing today.

MAC Dazzleglass Crème

MAC describes Lightly Prancing as ‘Light Peach with Gold pearl’ and Soft Dazzle as ‘Mid-tone peach pink with gold pearl’. Here’s what they look like in the tube:

Lightly Prancing does look quite peachy and is true to MAC’s description. However, I would say that Soft Dazzle is more of a baby pink than a peachy pink.

This is what the swatches of both look like. I have tried to take pictures in different lights to try and give a true image of the shades.

What I Like About MAC Dazzleglass Crème

• The pwetty pwetty shades. Who doesn’t like shiny pink gloss? 😛 😛
• The glitter (or gold pearl) in these glosses is very understated in the tube (note that I said in the tube, this is important later on). The glitter is not chunky, which I really like! I personally don’t like extremely glittery lipglosses (which is why I passed on the MAC Superglass collection) because I feel like they make your lips look like a talking disco ball but then that’s just my personal preference 😛
• Definitely a fresh take on the Dazzleglass.
• The texture. I love the fact that they are more creamier and less stickier than the Dazzleglass. I like the Dazzleglass range but dislike the fact that it is extremely sticky. The Dazzleglass Crème can be applied much better on the lips than the Dazzleglass.
• It feels less heavy on the lips than the Dazzeglass due to its creamier texture. I have worn these glosses for a good 2 to 3 hours without feeling like they’re too heavy.
• The trademark MAC vanilla scent. You know what I’m talking about 😛

What I Don’t Like About MAC Dazzleglass Crème

• The glitter looks understated in the tube but once you put it on the lips….Bam! It doesn’t look understated at all. It makes the lips look extremely frosty, and the glitter definitely stands out. I would not recommend this gloss for a toned down, neutral look.
• The glitter gets around your lips while eating. And stays on! Not a good look if you’re planning on wearing these glosses continuously.
• It’s hard to take off. What I discovered while trying to take it off is that the glitter sticks to your lips like crazy and the wiping motion makes the glitter spread all over the side of your lips. It doesn’t completely come off with makeup remover either and the glitter only wears off naturally after a few hours. Very icky and very messy.

• The colour payoff. The abundance of glitter in the glosses doesn’t let the colour shine through. In fact the colour is quite sheer. All you really see when you put it on your lips is the glitter. I didn’t really see a difference between the two shades once I put them on.
• The applicator. Grrr….Why oh why does MAC have to give these jhadoo-type applicators? I don’t like them because sometimes you get stray strands and they can deposit the gloss outside of the lip line. Not to mention it doesn’t deposit the gloss evenly. I would have preferred a sponge tip or a doe foot applicator.

Not sure if you can see what I mean in the pictures, but here is a picture of me wearing Lightly Prancing:

And a picture of me wearing Soft Dazzle:

soft dazzle

As you can see, they look virtually the same on my lips. So no point in getting both the shades.
Despite their faults, I do like them and this is definitely something new from MAC.

Would I repurchase them though? Hmmm I think I’ll give it a miss.
Hope you find my review helpful ladies

  1. samarpit……i guess ill give them a miss….they are too sheer and too glosssy and as u said to messy fr my liking……even otherwise i m more of a lipstick person……………

  2. loved soft dazzle … so girly girly :shy: :shy: :shy: :shy: :shy: …. but that shimmer … :hunterwali: :hunterwali: :hunterwali:

  3. I love the formula of these. And for some strange reason they are pretty long staying..I have one of these..( a bright pink one) forgot the name. 😛 Even after eating and drinking my lips still look pink. :-* Not comfortable with the brush tip applicator myself , i prefer doe foot ones. they give a better control.

I liked the prancing shade. :))

    1. Yes I completely agree….they give a better control….the lightly prancing shade is a very nice day gloss 😀 😀 😀

  4. As a real Dazzleglass Bimbo I have to say that I love the regular Dazzles; there were a few Cream Dazzles fromt the LE last year that did not impress me that much but they seem to have changed the texture since the new ones from the last LEs were quite good.

There is only one thing I would suggest: You beautiful indian Ladies should reall go for the higher pigmentated products in general – try the amazing pinks and reds among the Dazzles and Glasses – also the cool Burgundies and so on. You will discover that these colours fit your colourtype in an amazing way.

I sent Rati “Hothouse” as a gift and hopefully she will find the time to review it in the next couple of months – that will show clearly what I mean :-* :-*

    1. I will do that, Tatjana. :)) Infact I have a very similar hot pink shade in dazzle creme as well. Samarpita picked up the ones that have sheer finish . Some of the other shades in this range are amazingly pigmented and have a lot of colour in them. :))

      1. Oh do tell me the other shade you got….the thing is the other shades looked a little garish to me in the harsh lighting of the store, but maybe they look better in natural lighting ?:) ?:) ?:)

    2. There is nothing to say against sheer textures for you as well … if they have enough blue :))

@ll: Didn´t want to cause any confusion about Hothouse – it is a regular Lipglass from MAC. not a Dazzleglass… was part of a limited edition and I sent my backup to Rati because I was pretty sure she would look amazing with that colour

  5. Im eyeng the dazzleglass lippies since so long….
    i have only one MAC product :(( I need more…. booo-hooooo
    :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((

    1. Hi Bee, these aren’t regular dazzleglasses, these are dazzeglass cremes and they’re limited edition from the A Tartan Tale collection, so get in quick if you want them :-* :-* :-*

  6. loved both the colours soooo much in the tube….. but after putting em on i find em tooooo sheer… so maybe will give them a pass…. :-/ :-/

thankss for the review :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :))
