So after Heroine,IMBB sponsored this lipstick as well, for me. I chose a classic red as I knew one can never go wrong with a true red. This is my first mineralize lipstick from MAC and find out if it is worth the 20 pounds paid!
You can read Lady at Play and Posh Tone here at IMBB. Meanwhile at Debenhams, I clearly knew this was the shade I wanted, a classic red, and there are so many with me. I love to wear Lakme Absolute Runway Red, when in doubt, love reds any day. I don’t need an occasion.
The tube is so chubby, love the matte and glossy finish and the magnetic closure as well. I think I prefer the classic MAC packaging over this but it is fun no doubt. The bullet is also chubby, and thicker than regular.
Now coming to the lipstick, when I first swatched it on, I felt like I am applying a thicker lip balm, with some kind of moisture release technology, lol. I felt like this is a deeply tinted lip balm that glistens in light. The color was rich but not thick, I would call it medium to sheer or somewhere in between. The color was not cakey, but supple, lustrous like a lip balm.
On the lips, it stays put, despite being balmy, it does not bleed, and shapes the lips well. The color is rich and one swipe should give you enough red, but I prefer two coats. The red is quite bright honestly, it is not my preferred red. I like matte thicker reds. This red is true bright red, I could not see much blue or orange to it. So yes, it is safe for most skin tones, but I feel dusky skin tones would carry this red most elegantly.
The lipstick feels supple and hydrating, it almost coats the lips like a balm and has a shiny glistening finish. I would say it does not feel like a lipstick, it feels like a tinted balm. It does transfer to cups etc. The feel is so that I like to purse my lips together often when wearing this,light and balmy. I have not noticed any staining.
Staying power is good enough, I wore this with full meals for 3 hours, a lot of lipstick was still on. Without meals on an occasion, this should easily last you 5 hours without bleeding.
I find it quite moisturising for very dry lips too, though it does tend to settle in lip lines a bit (unavoidable). Overall, it is a great bright red for most skin tones, especially dusky, dry and pigmented lips and a party red lipstick to own, with a balm-like shiny feel to it.
And here is a little bolder red lips FOTD, the sun is literally shining into my eyes!
