Skin Tone- Medium, NC42, warm undertones
I am almost done reviewing the shades I got from the “Modern Twist Kajal Liner” range by MAC (Shoreline, Groundbreaker, Squid) and here are my thoughts on a very versatile shade “Grey Tide.” I bought it for the waterline, but somehow, I cannot give up on black and brown when it comes to waterline. Read on to know how the shade fared for me.
A kohl-like liner that’s sultry seductive and a little bit scandalous. The easy-glide formula makes this pencil a one-stroke wonder with a silky soft texture for rimming the sensitive waterline. Its color intensity and extreme depth creates a look with unparalleled impact. The long-wearing waterproof formula locks in your look for hours.
My Experience with MAC Grey Tide Modern Twist Kajal Liner:
The packaging is a twist-up pencil which does not twist back, so you have to be careful about how much you twist up for application. The outer paper carton has all the details about the product. The bottom has a color-coded band which is light peach in this case, to help find out from the stash. The cap shuts with a click and is hence very much travel friendly.
The texture is smooth and soft but does not crumble while application. It does not irritate my sensitive eyes and glides smoothly on the lids and waterline without tugging or pulling. Though it is a shimmery shade, it is very much safe on the waterline. I do not wear lens, so I would not comment on that. It is slightly less pigmented compared to the other shades from the range but that can be overlooked as I use it for inner corners and on my cupid’s bow.
This shade has peach tones to it and is not as “clean” as platinum. It looks nice on the Cupid ’s bow and on the highest point on the brow bone, but it collects a bit on the inner corner of the eyes. I smudge it right after application so that the chance of the liner collecting is comparatively less. I prefer using it as a highlighting shade on the lips and not as a liner but you can definitely play with the versatile shade.
It stays pretty long and there is absolutely no issue with the staying power as long as you do not rub it off. No matter how you choose to use this, “Grey Tide” is going to add glam to the whole makeup look without wearing off before you actually remove it. I am quite impressed with the staying power, especially when used as a highlighter.
