MAC Lipstick Reviews : Strength, Tanarama, O, Meltdown, MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush Sunbasque

Hi Everyone,

This is the frost edition review. Either you love frost lipsticks or you don’t. So these are very specific shades of lipsticks that you would want to pick up specifically for a certain outfit or parties or just for the sheer love of frost. They are not for everyone. But those who like that shimmery sheen on their lips, would love these shades. And 3 of the 4 lipstick shades can be extremely flattering on Indian skin tones. 🙂 For reference, I have NC 35 skin tone in MAC.

MAC Lipstick Strength

MAC Strength lipstick review, swatch, FOTD

  • Price : Rs 1190
  • Finish : frost
  • Color : peachy brown with shimmer / a metallic reddish copper with golden sheen
  • Texture : Strength goes on smooth and feels light on lips. The sheen in the lipsticks gives an illusion of smoother lips.
  • Longevity : goes on around 4 hours on me. And it fades evenly. Leaves a pale brownish with soft sheen tint behind.
  • Pigmentation :semi opaque
  • Goes Best With : orangey blushes / bronzers
  • Skin Tones : all skin tones
  • Fragrance : Vanilla
  • Rating : 4/5

MAC Lipstick Tanarama

MAC Tanarama lipstick review

  • Price : Rs 1190
  • Finish : frost
  • Color : Taranama is a pale beige with golden shimmer. This pretty much is a glaze on lips. It is best applied on top of a lipstick … just on the centre of the lips. That would give an illusion of fuller lips. On its own I find it quite weird for my skin tone.
  • Texture : smooth. Does not accentuate the fine lines of lips.
  • Longevity : around 4 hours. Have only tried using it at home and had a few snacks and drinks in between. It left a soft glaze on lips in a very good way.
  • Pigmentation : semi sheer. Infact it is quite a good color payoff considering how the color looks in the bullet.
  • Goes Best With : smokey eye makeup, as a sheen on top of opaque lipsticks.
  • Skin Tones : light, if you just want a hint of champagne sheen on your lips.
  • Fragrance : Vanilla
  • Rating : 3/5

MAC Lipstick “O”

MAC "O" Lipstick Review, Swatch, fotd

  • Price : Rs 1190
  • Finish : “O” is a frost finish lipstick
  • Color : purplish red with golden pearl / a metallic bronzer with plum undertones
  • Texture : smooth and feel very light on lips.
  • Longevity : around 4 + hours and the stain was still there until I completely removed it at the end of the day.
  • Pigmentation : semi sheer but still gives ample color to the lips. If you want a very opaque coverage, it’s best to use it over a lip liner. Does not get cakey at all. It rather makes lips look smoother. The sheen works totally in favour of giving fuller look the the lips.
  • Goes Best With : light eye makeup, bronzed skin.
  • Skin Tones : all skin tones but would work great on warm medium skin tones, especially. Can go really great with specific Indian wears.
  • Fragrance : Vanilla
  • Rating : 4/5

MAC Lipstick Meltdown

MAC Meltdown Lipstick review, swatch, fotd

  • Price : Rs 1190
  • Finish : frost
  • Color : bright orange with shimmer / a warm orange with golden shimmer.
  • Texture : smooth but there is slight grittiness of shimmer. You can feel it when you rub your lips together but other than it it feels light on lips. And you don’t feel the shimmer as such. The shimmer is very fine.
  • Longevity : around 5 hours. and the peachy stain was there until I wiped off the color from my lips.
  • Pigmentation : semi sheer. The color would look different on different on different people. I have
  • Goes Best With : peach , orange and bronze toned blushes.
  • Skin Tones : all. But best on warm medium skin tones.
  • Fragrance : Vanilla
  • Rating : 4.5/5

MAC Blush Sunbasque

  • Price : Rs 11o0 for refill
  • Finish : sheertone shimmery
  • Color : peach with pearl / a warm toned orangey toned peach with very fine shimmer.
  • Texture : super smooth and blends seamlessly. Does not go patchy during the day.
  • Longevity : all day long. Around 6 hours atleast.
  • Pigmentation : very pigmented. On brush ir picks up lightly giving you enough room to blend out the color and deepen the color according to your preference.
  • Goes Best With : orangey/ peachy lip colors.
  • Skin Tones : medium to dusky.
  • Fragrance : NA
  • Do I like It? Love it.  Sunbasque is a perfect summer color. It works as bronzer, highlighter and blush.
  • Rating : 5/5

I have worn Sunbasque blush in all the pics in this post.

Sunbasque was my first MAC blush and holds a special place in my heart. It is so versatile that I would say it is a must have for medium-dusky skin tones.

Mahasweta February 27, 2014 at 12:36 am

Great review, Rati di! 🙂 Even though frosty shades are not for me, I think Meltdown is the best of the lot. Hope to see more reviews from you, especially that Shu uemura eyelash curler!! 😉
