I am back with a review from one my favourite brands (well, MAC is almost everyone’s favourite, isn’t it? I’ll be writing about “Petal Power” from their Mineralize blush range.

My Experience with MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power:
I actually went to the MAC store in my area to buy a blush in the shade “Gleeful” because I saw it online while I was looking for a dupe of the NARS Orgasm Blush. But they didn’t have it in stock and when the makeup artist swatched “Petal Power” on my hand, I fell in love immediately.
First off, let’s talk about the colour. It is “oh so gorgeous!” MAC describes it as a coral pink with gold shimmer, but according to me, “Petal Power” is a warm rose pink with lots of gold mixed in it. The best part is that the colour does not come off as a pinky gold but rather a pink with gold shimmer, so it doubles as a highlight if you apply it all the way to your cheekbones. It doesn’t give you a great flush of colour but it definitely adds a healthy glow to your face.
This blush comes in a nice compact form, standard to the Mineralize line, where the mirror goes transparent plastic so you can see the shade inside. The blush itself isn’t flat, like most of the other blushes, but rather is shaped like a dome. I love the packaging except that I find it slightly difficult to open. I am not sure if it is because of the lid or what but each and every time I struggle a little. The trick is to open it towards the bottom.
The pigmentation of “Petal Power” is pretty decent. On the hand swatch, it shows equal amounts of pink and gold, but on the face, it’s more golden than pink. If you swirl your brush in it thoroughly, it gives your face enough colour in one sweep. You can always build up on the colour and it doesn’t look heavy or cakey at all. It blends nicely whether you use your fingers or a brush and doesn’t come off patchy or become patchy later through the day. I was vary of powder blushes because some of them became patchy on my skin through the day if I was sweating, but to my pleasant surprise, this one didn’t, yay!
The staying power is rather mediocre, but I never expected more from a glittery blush, to be very honest. Still, it lasts about 4 hours. It lasts for a lesser time if I have been touching my face, which, let’s face it, I do very often. The glitter rubs off on my hands easily and then I have to reapply.
All in all, I love this product! From what I have seen online, it is a pretty good dupe for the NARS orgasm blush (I wouldn’t know since I don’t have that product), but even if it isn’t a dupe, I am in love with the color which is a perfect glowy blush for brown-skinned girls.
Pros of MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power:
- Shimmery color.
- Close dupe of NARS orgasm blush.
- Perfect level of pigmentation for someone like me who doesn’t like a lot of blush.
Cons of MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power:
- Comes off on my hand really easy.
- Need to reapply often through the day.

I don’t mind that it’s not too pigmented because I am too much in love with the colour and texture. I would definitely repurchase. I am not a “powder blush girl” at all, but this one is my holy grail product to reach for when I want a “daytime” glow.
