MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser Review

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser Review

Remember I had mentioned in the Volcanic Ash Review how MAC skin care is not getting its due importance in India, I stick by that statement.  This current set of MAC skin care that I have is working very well for me. If you are considering MAC’s skin care, I suggest you start with Volcanic Ash, it will impress you into buying more from the brand 😛 Today, I am reviewing MAC’s Charged Water Cleanser.  Here’s the review for all of you.

My Experience with MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser:

I am in love with this cleanser, it’s the best I have ever used and it’s the best you can get for your CTM routine and to remove simple routine makeup.  I have always wanted to try stuff from the “Charged Water” range from MAC. The spray mist has been reviewed here.  The super charged ionized technology sounds exciting and I wanted to know whether it works 😛

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

This charged water cleanser is a clear, colorless liquid which doesn’t have much of a fragrance.  There’s 30 ml of product in the bottle and I think it would last me for a few months.  The only downside to the packaging is that there’s no nozzle spray 🙁 I would have preferred that a cleanser with such a clear and liquid consistency come out in a mist form, but anyway, this flaw is very minor and let’s move on.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

This cleanser has to be saturated on a cotton pad and then used in wiping motion on the face.  It brings down makeup, oil, dirt without any drama – which means it does not sting, irritate, dry out the skin in the process.  When I am done with the cleansing step, I can feel that the skin is clean, refreshed, and that all makeup has come off my face.  Even when there’s no makeup, it wipes off oil and dirt effectively and the best part is that you can actually feel the freshness.  The lightweight texture does not leave behind any stickiness or oily residue.  Since this is a water-based cleanser, there’s no need to rinse it off and one can directly proceed to the toning and moisturizing step.  Actually, I feel this product tones and hydrates the skin a bit, so you have the option to skip those steps if you want 😛  Though in the pics the liquid looks soapy, it’s not – it’s a clear liquid.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

This cleanser is for all of us who feel removing makeup at night is a long-drawn process and look for quicker ways.  If your makeup is not long-staying, this cleanser can take all it off in a few wiping motions.  It’s mentioned on the pack that it removes all kinds of makeup except waterproof and long staying ones. Yes, it removes all makeup off, without stinging and without stripping off the natural oils, and without making the skin dry or stretchy.  It’s gentle enough to be used on the eyes, but long-staying kajal/kohl/mascara and stubborn makeup is not going to come down with it.  You would have to use an eye makeup remover for that.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

You know the best part about this cleanser – it not only claims to be ionized and charged, there’s no alcohol content and that’s why there is no sting scare. I drop any product that stings me even a bit, this one doesn’t even a bit. Also, there are some interesting stuff in the ingredients list like cucumber fruit extract, salicylic acid and “diamond powder” 😛  It’s a winner for me also because there’s no glycerin in it.  Glycerin products leave an oily slick on my face which greases up the skin in a few minutes.  There are no parabens also.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

Sometimes, topical acne ointments can leave my skin very sensitive and at that time every product stings, but not this one.  Even on sensitive skin, this cleanser works gently without hurting.

It does not make skin dry or stretchy. In fact, I feel it refreshes skin and adds a bit of hydration.  I have not broken out with this cleanser.  Those of you who are thinking about replacing cleansing milk with something equally good, can try this, you would not be able to find a better option.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser

Though it’s mentioned that it might not take off waterproof and long-staying makeup down, it’s able to bring down basic and routine makeup stuff like foundation, tinted moisturizer, eye makeup , and lip makeup. I do not use any long-staying makeup, so this is a perfect cleanser for me.

I think you should get this cleanser if you want a formula that’s gentle, takes off your routine makeup, and which you can use in your CTM routine too. I am totally in love with this product. When you are out at MAC checking lipsticks and eyeshadows, take a look at the skin care too, there are many winners out there on the shelf.

Pros of MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser:

  • An effective, gentle, lightweight cleanser that removes light makeup and dirt/oil.
  • Suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.
  • Does not sting.
  • Removes routine makeup effectively.
  • Does not leave any oily layer or residue.
  • No-rinse formula.
  • Paraben free.
  • No alcohol or glycerin.
  • Formulated with ionized Super-Duo Charged Water technology.
  • Leaves skin refreshed and hydrated.

Cons of MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser:

  • This is a product in which I do not want to list any cons, but if you ask me, considering the texture of this lightweight liquid, I would have preferred a nozzle spray kind of packaging so that the cleanser could be used as a mist, but that can be ignored because this stuff works for me.

Would I Repurchase MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser?

Absolutely, it’s perfect!

Do I Recommend MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser?

If you wear light and routine makeup (not long staying ones), you can get clean skin at the end of the day in a few wipes with this cleanser.  There’s no need to rinse it off and you get toned and moisturized skin.

    1. Ghayu….the price is a con, but you know, it works for sensitive skin. I think clinique ones are equally priced but may not work that well for sensitive skin. Some mid-range cleansers are good but contain alcohol that dries out the skin further
