Today, I am going to review my only eye shadow from MAC. It is a part of the MAC Chenman Love and Water Collection.
In the spirit of the M∙A∙C/Chen Man collaboration, two shades of Mineralize Eye Shadow – a mélange and a solid – form the traditional Yin-Yang symbol. The Chinese character for love is depicted in Chen Man’s calligraphy on the outer sleeve.
Rs. 1350 for 3 g.
- Pink Union.
- Love Cycle.
The eye shadow duo is packed in the standard MAC packaging – black plastic case with transparent see-through cover and snap-shut, flip-up tops. The pan is dome shaped and divided into two colors following a ying yang shape. The outer cardboard box is decorated with a watercolor design. The packaging is very elegant and travel friendly.
About the colors:
Mac describes this as “Duo – half taupe, lavender, brown mélange/half solid dark violet.” I think this description is very accurate.
Pink Union has a frosty shimmery mauve-pink eye shadow paired with a deep medium solid purple eye shadow. The pink eye shadow is very gorgeous and unique. The purple eye shadow has sheen finish and the other eye shadow is more shimmery. When blended, both the colors combine to give medium, shimmery lavender.
My Experience with MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Pink Union:
I love this eye shadow duo. Both the colors can be used separately as well together. In the day time, purple looks pretty and in the parties, both the colors can be blended to give beautiful shimmery lavender. A dark color in the crease would add to the beauty of these colors. This duo would complement every eye color and looks very classy in the pan.
They are medium to highly pigmented. Two swipes give intense color when used dry. If the brush is damp, a single swipe is enough. The formula is bit crumbly, so some mess can happen while swiping the brush across the pan, but there is no fall out at all when applied. The shimmer doesn’t spread here and there and stays on the eyelids. Both the colors blend beautifully with each other and with other colors. The colors apply smoothly and evenly. They can be layered to give a more intense finish.
Both the eye shadows stay on my eyelids for about 4 hours without any primer. It stays for 6-7 hours with a primer underneath (haven’t tested beyond 6-7 hours). There wasn’t any creasing or fading.
Now, the swatches: (single swipe)
(left- blended; middle- mauve pink color; right- solid purple)
