MAC Next To Nothing Face Colour Review

Hello dear IMBBians,

It’s been a while since I wrote a review, got super busy with college. The final year is so hard. Anyway, I’m back with a new review about a product I have been absolutely in love with. MAC released their ‘Next to Nothing Face Colour’ a couple of months ago in the abroad stores but it only hit Indian stores a month or so ago. They don’t call it a foundation or a BB cream or any such thing. It’s just called Face Colour, which I find extremely appropriate.

My Experience with MAC Next To Nothing Face Colour:

Let me just say I’m very fussy with face products. They’re always too light or too dark or too heavy or don’t do anything at all. I’ve hunted through too many BB creams and come across nothing I could permanently add to my collection. Since BB creams are in generic shades they tend to wash me out or make me darker; my skin tone is somewhat in the middle, an NC 42.

I hate wearing foundation on a daily basis so I really needed to find something low key that would even out my skin tone without being too heavy. When I heard about the Next to Nothing it seemed too good to be true. When it launched in Mumbai stores I immediately went to my closest MAC store and tried it. I picked up the shade Medium Deep.

The formula is really sheer, and if you’re looking to cover really dark spots or acne, it’s not going to work. Having said that, the pigmentation isn’t all that bad. The sheer colour does cover up minor imperfections as if they were never there. My skin isn’t problematic, so this was perfect because all I needed was something to even out my skin tone, which this does amazingly.

MAC Next To Nothing Face Colour Details

It’s easy to apply and I usually use a buffer brush to apply and blend onto my face. The product blends evenly and doesn’t look streaky on the face. It’s moisturising and doesn’t dry my skin out at all. Neither does it make my skin produce more oil. I usually stay away from products that promise ‘glowy’ and ‘dewy’ skin cause my face just ends up looking oily. But this product didn’t do that to me at all. My skin literally looked like it had a filter on it.

I usually follow up by setting it with my Studio Fix Powder lightly only on my T-zone. The MAC artist warned me that the Studio Fix might be too heavy on top of the face colour and would start caking. But if I don’t use a powder at all my combination skin starts looking oily after a few hours, so setting this product is necessary. If you have dry skin though you could get away without using any powder over it.

The Face Colour stays on for about 5 to 6 hours easily without a primer underneath. It fades slowly without streaking or looking patchy. I picked it up so that I could wear it to college every day, so my major concern was the lasting power in the Mumbai heat. Surprisingly, it did as long as I dabbed my sweat with a tissue instead of rubbing my face. Rubbing my face would just take off the product.

If I used this product for two layers on my face it gave me stronger coverage and lasted a good 9 hours. After I went home and washed my face I realised what a difference the face colour had made to my makeup. They don’t joke when they say it’s like a filter for your face.
