Skin Type- combination to oily
Sensitive Skin – no
Skin Tone- Medium, NC42, warm undertones
MAC is known for their lip colors and base products and I have been fortunate enough to try out quite a few of their lovely base products. This time I decided to pick the newly formulated foundation in Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof variant and here is the review on the same.
A waterproof formula that lasts for 24 hours and can be used as a foundation or concealer.
A tenacious waterproof formula that can be used as a foundation or concealer wearing for an unprecedented 24 hours. Neither rain nor tears can budge this oil-free watertight product that actually repels moisture from the surface of the face. The formula blends seamlessly on the skin with medium to full weightless coverage and a natural satin finish.
My Experience with MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation:
The foundation comes in an inverted black tube packaging with matte finish. I would have loved the addition of a pump but it is still ok as the squeeze tube is handy enough. The opening is small and thus the quantity of product dispensed can be controlled to avoid wastage. The outer paper carton has details regarding the product and is typically black and simple sophisticated MAC.
The texture of the foundation is surprisingly more on the liquid side which is not what I expected, mostly because it came in tube packaging. I thought it would be more creamy and thick as it claims to be a nourishing foundation. Little amount is required each time to cover the face and neck. I have worked with sponges, brushes and finger tips and I find it works best when applied with a damp sponge. That way it looks all natural and well blended. The coverage is medium to buildable and even after 2 layers there is no cakey feeling.
I am NC 42 in Studio Fix but I got the shade NC 35 as this formula oxidizes. This is where is I am disappointed with the product. It looks a bit grayish after oxidizing and that is definitely not a pretty sight. With a lighter compact on top this can be made to work but when I am spending so much on a 25ml foundation, I would want it to work perfectly without any hassle. Why would I work hard to make a 2800/- foundation work? I would rather pick an affordable option from the drugstore and work on it to save my bucks.
The staying power is definitely worth mention as it really stays on perfect up to 10 hours with minimal fading here and there which can be taken care of with a bit of compact touch-up. It is waterproof and not just water resistant so will definitely be an option for the summers. People with combination/ oily skin would require some powdering to go through the day without any mess. In my opinion I would recommend it to people with dry skin as it actually provides some moisture to the skin.
Pros of MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation:
• Tube packaging.
• Little goes a long way.
• Non cakey.
• Non drying.
• Shades available.
Cons of MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation:
• Expensive for the quantity.
IMBB Rating – 3.25/5
Would I Repurchase/Recommend MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation?
Repurchase – no, I like Studio Fix fluid foundation better.
Recommend – I would rather recommend the Studio Fix as that is my favorite formula, but if you like trying out new products with long wearing benefits you can try this out. As the price tag is pretty high, go for a sample to check if you like the way it goes on the skin.
