Hi everyone,

Getting back into the review mode, I wanted to start with a really good product.  Let me tell you, I am absolutely loving MAC products nowadays! I thought I would start with MAC Pro Concealer Palette, but guys guys, here’s what you need to get first from the MAC store – the Pro Longwear Pressed Powder.  Read on 🙂

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

My Experience with MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder:

The pressed powder comes in the usual MAC compact packaging – black case with a mirror and a leatherette puff. The puff is of very good quality and picks and blends in the powder nicely on to the skin.  I have it in the shade “Medium Tan,” which is an exact match for my skin tone. The powder is pressed firmly into the compact and there are no powder particles flying all around when you open the compact, hence the compact remains mess free and neat. There’s no fragrance to the product, so it will go well with sensitive skin types.

The texture of the powder is smooth and lightweight.  It applies beautifully without highlighting the dry patches on the skin.  The coverage that it imparts is sheer to medium, but adding on layers would make your face appear cakey. For a natural finish, lightly dab over your foundation and go over a second time, that’s it.

The leatherette puff provided with this compact is of very good quality, I usually use the puff or the Real Techniques powder brush that Neetu gifted me.  I use this pressed powder to set my foundation and also after the MAC Pro Concealer Palette.

This powder controls shine for up to 6 hours or so on my oily skin.  I have not worn it longer than that, but 12 hours claim seems to be a bit far fetched. It keeps my face shine free, I have extremely oily skin which greases up quickly in all climates, but this pressed powder has been a savior and keeps oil and shine from showing up on my face.

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

Even if you skip a moisturizer beneath, it does not cling on to the dry areas of your face.  Also, it does not make you look stark white in photographs.

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

Some of you out there with acne-prone skin would like to know whether it would break out your skin (I have heard people complaining about MAC compacts causing acne on their face), but I have to say that it didn’t irritate or cause breakouts on my skin.

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

Did I tell you that the coverage it provides is sheer to medium, completely matte without making the face look cakey or heavily made up.  Don’t expect heavy coverage from this, it’s just a pressed powder after all, but it does provide medium coverage that’s good for a natural finish.  I would say a good concealer (not necessarily MAC pro concealer) plus this powder is enough as daily face makeup for me.

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

It brightens up dull skin with just a swipe. It’s perfect also to wear to gym, where you would not want to go with a lot of stuff on your face, but wouldn’t mind a hint of brightness either. It does not sweat out that easily in gym, especially if the climate is a bit cool outside.

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

Though it claims to be wet-proof, I should tell you that it does not stubbornly cling on to the skin when you try to remove it.  I can take it easily down with a swipe of MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser on a cotton pad.  Later on, the toner routine does not show much residue.  So, I am happy that though it’s a long wear product, it comes off without any issues.

MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

The finish is matte, so I doubt if some of you out there with dry skin would like it on your skin, nevertheless, do check it out the MAC counter.

  1. Nice review, seems like a good product. Wht shade numbr is this.? Is this colour similar to other NC/NW from other ranges?

    1. Hi Bushra, it’s “medium tan” and there are around 11 shades in this range. This shade will go well with NC 45 and NW 45 skin tones.

  2. Excellent review! I don’t I have any more questions for this now 😉 I have been really looking for a pressed powder to keep oil and shine at bay, I should try this! 🙂

    xx Aditi

  3. This seems to be a must try. I’ve tried a range of pressed powders but next I am going to get my hands on this! Yayy…
Btw di you missed my calls to.. Should I mail you instead?

  4. Great review! Can you please suggest if I should pick this up over Studio fix powder? Also, is there any shade available in this range for NC30? MAC should number their shades instead of such confusing names. MAC SAs sometimes totally mess up suggesting wrong shades 🙁

  5. I am totally buying this as I suffer with oil factories on my skin! Great review! I wonder if this is better than Studio Fix Powder Foundi? I am in search of a new compact and loose powder on my oily skin!

  6. I got this a week ago in the Medium Light shade, & I must admit that it’s very impressive! I have extremely sensitive & acne-prone oily skin, & so far this hasn’t broken me out. I love using this! 🙂
