MAC Reflects Blue Glitter Pigment Review

MAC Reflects Blue Glitter Pigment Review

Dear All,

These days I am loving glitters and pigments a lot and my current favorite is MAC’s Reflect Blue Pigment. As you all know, MAC pigment samples are not available in India, so recently via a friend I got a few MAC pigment samples including Reflect Blue. I love duochrome effect eyeshadows and pigments a lot! According to me, they are best for all over lid and brings out that warmth and color on the eyes, of course, it depends upon the type of pigment used.

Reflects Blue was a part of the “Chen Men” collection, which came out some time ago and costs Rs. 1350/- for 4.5 gms. Not sure if this is still available in the MAC stores, but I believe its available in the PRO stores.

My Experience with MAC Reflects Blue Glitter Pigment:

Let’s be honest, not many are fan of glitters and pigments.  Even I was not comfortable using them earlier due to the massive fallouts they have and they are just plain messy! But once I started experimenting with them and learnt a few techniques to apply them, there is no looking back! My all-time favourite pigment still remains my Inglot Pigment 85, which I have reviewed earlier, but “Reflects Blue” is definitely one of the most gorgeous pigments ever!

It is an extremely finely milled product and looks white in the pan, but when swatched over black, it actually shows its true colors. It has a mix of blue and purple glitter which is not visible without a strong base such as grey or black. I love to use it over creamy black base as this helps the glitter to stick better. I have swatched above black base and you can see how lovely it looks and the effect is just beautiful. Only a tiny amount is required, so even this sample should go on for 8 to 10 applications easily.

The staying power is superb! I applied this in the morning around 10 AM and it was still intact in the evening around 8 PM! The intensity did fade a bit, but I am quite okay with it as even with some fading, the pigment was still visible on my eyes.

The only problem which is true to all glitters is fallout! This one too has quite a lot of fallout if not used properly. Even if one is careful to use this pigment, there certainly will be some fallout.

Swatched over black base and bare skin. See how gorgeous it turns out if used over a black base? Absolutely WOW!

I have used black gel liner all over the lid, smudged a little and then popped up with MAC Reflect Blue and I am done 🙂

Price:

Rs. 250/- for 1/4 tablespoon, its a sample.

IMBB Rating:

4.2/5 (Deducted 0.8 point purely for fallout).

Do I Recommend MAC Reflects Blue Glitter?

If you love duochrome effect or if you love glitter, especially in blue, this is definitely a must try!

Note:- I recently heard that MAC does not encourage the use of their glitter pigments on eyes, though I have not checked with their store on this, so no idea. If you are buying , lease check out with the SA in the MAC store regarding the usage on eyes, I have used this a few times and it did not irritate my eye in any way.

Hope you all enjoyed the review.  Until tomorrow, take care and stay beautiful!
