My Experience with Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor Dance With Me:
Look-wise the packaging is a hybrid between the regular lipsticks by Mac and liquid lip colors. The applicator is handy and user friendly. The ingredients and other details are mentioned on the outer paper carton. The shade name is mentioned on the tube as well as on the carton. The tube is transparent so you can easily find the shade in your stash, if you have more than one from the same range.
The texture of the lip color is super creamy and smooth. It glides on the lips like butter and settles to an ultra matte finish. The shades have varied consistency, so each one has a different pigmentation and they show up differently on the lips. Dance With Me is awesome in terms of texture and pigmentation. One swipe and you’re ready to walk out of the door. Due to the super matte texture, exfoliation and moisturisation is recommended as it tends to focus on the dry patches.
Dance With Me is a darkened red color which is a must-have shade in my opinion. If you are not comfortable with bold reds, go for this one. This shade gives an edge to the whole makeup look without looking OTT. I love how gorgeous yet muted it looks on my yellowish skin tone. This can be a great option for the brides if topped with a nice red gloss.
The staying power is again incredible. It does not move of smudge at all as long as it is not messed with. I have to use an oil based makeup remover to completely remove it from the lips. It does not stain the lips, nor does it go patchy. This has survived meals and stayed strong for more than 8 hours on my lips. After 2 hours the lips tend to feel a bit stretchy and hence I apply a bit of matte balm on top to bring the comfortable feel to the lips.
Overall this shade is a mix of hits and misses. The darker shades have better pigmentation compared to the lighter shades; the textures of all the shades are nice but due to the varying pigmentation, they come off differently. I would suggest you to visit the shop and apply on the lips before making any hasty choice as these are slightly tricky to work with.
