My experience with MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor Rich & Restless, Mademoiselle
I picked up 6 of these MAC Retro matte liquid lip colors. Some worked for me and some did not. Nevertheless I have been using them almost everyday. I have been mixing lighter shades with darker shades to make my own custom shades. That said these did not turn out to be my most favourite liquid lipsticks. I prefer The Balm Liquid lipsticks more than these.

Pigmentation : What an absolutely gorgeous pigmentation these lipsticks have – a full on bang on color in just one swipe. No lip liner required and even if you have pigmented lips, you’d get a full coverage on your lips. These are probably one of the most liquid pigmented lipsticks I have tried. They almost give that feel of a lip paint.

Texture : They have this creamy liquidy texture- not too liquidy though. They go on easily on lips. The lip color dries down completely on 30 seconds to a minute. I quite like that about these because I am loving mixing and matching the colors in these.

Finish : These are the mattest matte lipsticks you could ever imagine. And I feel that makes the formula bit unforgiving. They accentuate every single line on the lip if your lips are not well exfoliated. And forget about using these on lips when you are having a dry lips day. They’d make your lips cry for a lip balm. Writing that from an experience.

The Packaging : These come packed in a gorgeous clear packaging with an excellent applicator. The applicator is beautifully shaped and really helps in getting that clean edge on the lips. The best way I found to use these lipsticks is by layering thin coats. I scrape off most of the product on the side and crate a base on the lips with a thin layer. And then I’d go over it with the next thin layer to get the true color.

These are extremely long lasting- more than 6 hours wear for both the color. But after eating something oily they mostly disappear from the centre, which I find a bit odd. The best thing is that there is no transfer or feathering or smudging with these lipsticks. Once they are on, you need a power of God to budge these. hihihih

Overall, I enjoy wearing these with a definite exfoliation and moisturising. But I am not blwon away, honestly. The colors are soo bright that they are almost intimidating. I always end up toning these down a bit. They are very in-the-face kind of color. And the formula is way too dry for my liking. Still you could enjoy picking up a shade or a too.

Rich and Restless is gorgeous orangey coral color. It goes on non streaky. NYX Orange County, NYX Lip Cream Morocco, Lakme Orange Edge  looks closer to this. It will suit all skin tones. Love this color!

Mademoiselle is a bright pastel peach color. It goes on a bit streaky but can easily be evened out. I find it extreeeemly difficult to pull off. It looks so strikingly odd against my skintone. You know how cricketers lips look..just imagine a peachy shade. loll!!  But I mostly mix it with my orangey lipsticks and even with Rich & Restless and it works that way. Really try this on lips before picking it up. Not sure which skintone it would work with unless you are doing some theme makeup. Phew! reminds me of MAC Myth Lipstick
