I am a huge fan of matte liquid lipsticks and this time tried out a shade from MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour range. This is a unique but beautiful shade. Let’s check out more about it.

My Experience with MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Topped with Brandy:

The lipstick comes in a standard MAC outer packaging – black cardboard box with white font. But, the primary packaging is quite pretty. It is a see-through packaging with a matte cap. I like the wand and applicator also. The applicator is flat and facilitates easy application.

Topped with Brandy is a unique shade and I am in love with it. MAC describes this shade as “deep dirty rose” but that’s not entirely true. The shade looks different under different lights. It even looks quite different on various lips, depending upon whether you’ve pigmentation or not. On my not-so-pigmented lips, it looks brown with mauve undertones but on my sister’s lips, it looks just brown.

But overall the shade is quite unique and I don’t think its dupe can easily be found. I am waiting for winters to wear this shade more often. In summers, I feel I cannot carry it without makeup as it makes my skin look dull.

I would also like to mention that the shade kind of has its own mind. Sometimes it appears too dark and bold with one swipe and sometimes it appears to be a nice brown shade with just one swipe. So mostly, I am not sure how it would look. Still, in every case, it tends to look unique, bold and classy.

This liquid lipstick has a very comfortable mousse-like texture which I just love. It is lightweight and does not dry out the lips. The lipstick sets to a perfect matte finish that does not move from its place for hours. Yes, it transfers but does not fade much and lasts around 6-7 hours easily on my lips, without an oily meal.

Overall, I feel this is an amazing liquid lipstick range and everyone should try it. It is expensive but worth the price if you get the shade of your choice. I’ve read that MAC has improved the texture and made it comfortable. Still, it is not hydrating and you must prep your lips before application but it won’t dry out your lips either. You won’t find any trouble with the texture if you are also into liquid lipsticks.
