MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick Review

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick Review

I have been away for a while as we were shifting the house (it was such a pain) *cry* I still have boxes lying around. I was am in a state of hibernation because of the weather as well as the pile of work I have, but yet, I do get time to read all the incredible reviews on IMBB. I am relatively new to the world of makeup, but I am very much into skin and body care though. The wonderful girls on IMBB have given me a lot of confidence to explore the field of makeup. I have never owned anything from MAC yet, was silently reading reviews from all of you, I wanted to own something from MAC as it is such a cult makeup brand. MAC recently launched the MAC RiRi Hearts MAC Holiday 2013 Collection. I tried to get hold of the RiRi Woo lipstick earlier as well, but I was not so lucky. I kept on calling the nearest store for this launch and maybe I have pakaa-oo-ed them so much they took my number and called me up on the day of launch. I rushed to the store within an hour despite having a bad viral.  I have said to myself that if I don’t get RiRi Woo this time, I will get its twin sister Ruby Woo.  I so desperately wanted this that I can’t explain I was waiting forever for my perfect red and yes this is it!!!

My Experience with MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick:

I ever so wanted to own something from MAC and by the time when I came to know of the Retro Matte lipsticks, I tried to find out more about them and during that search, I stumbled upon this new RiRi collection from MAC. I have got a few matte lipsticks from Lakme 9 to 5 collection and they were pretty good, but I wanted to have a red and owing to my past experiences, not all brands can create the perfect red lipstick (no offence meant). When I saw the swatches online, I knew this is my red as I am not dusky, wheatish nor extremely fair – I would consider myself as neutral skin toned. I went to the MAC store a couple of times to swatch the color of Ruby Woo, but every time, it looked different on me 😛 and then, I came to know about RiRi Woo, which hit the bull’s eye.

I would not call myself a die-hard Rihanna fan as I am more bowled over by the colour and feel of this collection as a whole. This one applies like a dream and does not tug or pull the lips during application as the Ruby Woo has been accused of, it feels smooth on my lips and does not enhance lines of my lips and one swipe is enough for full coverage as it is intensely pigmented and you would need a makeup remover to wipe it off completely. In the pics, it does look a bit dry, but trust me it’s not, but you can wear a lip balm underneath if you want to.

I realized while editing the pics that if you have minor flaws, while application it gets magnified because of the bright and pigmented shade, so you have to be no less than perfect when you apply this lipstick.  It stayed on my lips for more than 7 hours with a light snack. It’s a cool-toned red matte that everyone can wear without bothering much. Well, if you already own Ruby Woo, you can skip this as they are almost similar, but the limited edition packaging is to die for.

I hope I did justice to the lip swatches as you can see I do not have perfect lips as Neha * woot* , this is the reason I shy away from lip product reviews *cry* I had a hard time photographing the shade as it was coming out brown all the time and finally I had my Eureka moment when I discovered that this shade looks brown toned on a white background whereas it looks the true red that it is on a dark background. I appreciate the patience of IMBB team for this review and even I appreciate my own patience 😛 as I had to take 300+ pics to get the true elusive colour
