Hello sweethearts,

Product Description:
Formulated to shade, define and showcase the lips. Hundreds of hues, high-fashion textures. The iconic product that made M·A·C famous. Intense bluish-red Matte Lipstick.

My Experience with MAC Russian Red Lipstick:

I usually don’t wear bold colours, but after seeing all the beautiful posts and Rati’s makeovers on IMBB, I changed my mind. Hence, I got myself a perfect red lipstick. IMBB made me crave for the very popular MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick. So, I went to my nearby MAC store and told the MUA that I wanted a red lipstick that matched my skin tone.

She made me try a red lipstick and I instantly fell in love with that colour. That shade made my face look brighter and gave me confidence. And then, I realised how a bold colour changes our entire makeup look. I thought it was Ruby Woo and asked the MUA about the shade. She said that it was Russian Red. After this, I tried Ruby Woo, which looked a bit orangey on my skin tone. Hence, I decided to settle with Russian Red.

This is my first red lipstick and it is the best! It is a cool toned blue based red colour and has a matte finish. This colour is freaking photogenic and makes your teeth look whiter and your face brighter in photographs. I am mostly a warm toned person but this colour suits me very well. Even though the lipstick has a matte finish, it is not that drying on the lips. It feels very moisturising and creamy on the lips and applies beautifully. This colour bleeds a little, but applying a lip liner underneath and powdering the outer edges of the lips solves the problem.

This comes in a usual MAC packaging and has a beautiful vanilla scent. The lipstick is so bright that even the camera couldn’t handle it right. Ha ha. The pigmentation of the lipstick is amazing and it stays for almost 6 hours even with meals. It transfers a little bit but nothing to be worried about. This lipstick got me a lot of compliments and made me bold and beautiful. Ruby Woo and Russian Red may look somewhat similar at first sight, but the former is a bright neon red and the latter is a deeper bluish red.

MAC has 2 categories: retro matte finish (true matte) and matte finish. Ruby Woo falls in the first category, so it is extremely drying. But Russian Red falls in the second category, hence it is moisturising and creamy, though it has a matte finish.

Russian Red is not as electric as Ruby Woo, it is still very vibrant and goes on opaque in just one swipe. It does not tug on the lips and does not feel uncomfortable. Thus, I have found my perfect red lipstick and am so much in love with this colour. So friends, if you want to get a perfect red lipstick which doesn’t dry out the lips, do check this beauty.
