MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation SPF 15 Review

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation with SPF15 (NC44)- 40ml
This is the foundation I am using nowadays… I don’t remember exact cost but it was approx Rs 1500

MAC Studio Sculpt FOundation

Let’s see what MAC says about this product

A creamy, luxurious, gel-based foundation that provides medium buildable to high coverage with a natural satin finish. Hydrating, instantly revitalizes the skin while keeping it looking smooth, soft and plush. Long-wearing, water-resistant.

This product is best match for Dry to normal skins types. It doesn’t feel heavy at all and gives middle to full coverage upon application. The finish is lovely, luminous, highly pigmented and nice to work with. Pea size does all the work, hence product lasts long. Though I have read few negative review also but I believe it all depends on the type of your skin (whether it would suit a certain type of skin or not) and the way it is being used.

What I liked about the MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

  • It’s highly pigmented so less is more. Pea size covers full face.
  • Hides blemishes, under-eye circles in seconds. I don’t have those ghastly dark circles so it hides puffiness and any other discoloration effectively. I don’t need a concealer with this product what all I do is re-apply the product wherever I want more coverage.
  • It spreads evenly. I use my fingers to blend it into my skin and they have worked wonders. It is a gel-cream formula that is easily blended. Skin looks even and smooth.
  • I didn’t break out after using it. It didn’t make my skin feeling stretchy though I wear moisturizer underneath.
  • Doesn’t washes away and lasts for 6-8 hours (at least). It has SPF 15 in it so can wear during the daytime too. yippee
  • The easy squeeze tube eliminates waste; just dole out the amount needed for each application.
  • Removing it is super easy. Use any makeup remover (I use baby oil) and wash you face… that’s all.

What I disliked about MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

  • IF not used wisely looks cakey, like a mud pack. Oops! I had frightened my hubby with that look once … (his heart must have broken on comparing the end results with the price 😛 )
  • It has kind of orange undertones so I mix it with a moisturizer to get the perfect shade if going out during the day though it doesn’t need any mixing on a night/ evening outing.
  • Application has to be as quicker as possible else its gonna sit on your face and punish you for being lazy… hehehe (Dramatic version of the fact)
  • PRICE !!!!!!! It’s creates hole in the pocket … all the MAC products do.

So my rating for this product would be :-* :-* :-* :-

Bye for now… And don’t forget to stay happy & keep shopping. 😀

    1. Your best bet is talking to MUAs at the store and trying out samples and such. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another person as our skin differs.

  1. under the heading, “what i like about mac studio sculpt foundation”, there’s an error i think. i think it should read “It didn’t make my skin feeling stretchy though I wear MOISTURISER (not foundation) underneath.”

    i love the tubed packaging.

    1. Yep, and my wife wore a saree after months; the sheer effort tired her so much that she is sleeping, too tired to snore even.

Great fun though, and my whole family was together. And I am feeling very proud. I have the coolest family. They celebrated Lohri as if they have been celebrating it all their lives. 🙂

  6. Waise, even I don’t have a clear skin to carry this foundation, but I had heard a lot about this one…..and studio sculpt sounds soooooooo technical and all 😐 😐 😐 😐

  7. This should most probably be my next foundation purchase. I have seen MAC makeup artists using this foundation for fashion shows and it gives such a beautiful natural effect–okay application gets all the credit but they always use this foundation. Thanks for the review. I am all the more convinced :))

  9. I don’t think it is for us Oilies…..nice review. & as u said, it’s best to go to the store & ask for assisstance…but tehir price always scares me………what if I pay so much & get the wrong product.

    1. Watttt…jomol also having fun at other’s expense 😯 😯 😯

BTW,I did’nt tell you I like your DP very much

  10. I agree with monica…Does MAC offer small free samples…coz their products are like an investment which should be made after guud amount of trying various samples and selecting wisely…

  11. Hi Girls,

I’m an Indian from Bombay who has been living in Florida for the last 11 years. I just stumbled on this blog & was super excited to see a place for Indian women to discuss Make-up.

I’ve been using Studio Fix Fluid for the last year & I LOVE it! It’s ok for oily-skinned women (cos I have oily, acne-prone skin that’s super-sensitive due to the acne meds) but it all depends on the application. How do you girls apply foundation?

I use 1 pump of the foundation & apply it with a foundation brush over a well moisturized & primed (you HAVE to use primer with foundation to get it to last & look good. I use MAC’s prep + prime) face. It’ll look kinda greasy & that’s when you blot it all over with a make-up sponge. Then put on some MAC blotting powder & you’re set!!

  12. I bought this in shade NC42, as the MA advised.. Somehow it looks all orangey n dark on me.. I guess I shud go bak and exchange it for an NC40.. Wonder if they’ll give me an exchange (I lost the receipt  ) I noticed NC40 has more of yellow undertones.. Great coverage anyway!
