MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush Review

Skin type: oily-sensitive, acne prone
Skin tone: fair-light, yellow-neutral undertones

Hello, friends!
How are you doing today? I am here to share another shimmery blush obsession with you all which comes from none other than MAC. So, I used to be a no shimmer gal earlier, but after trying a few shimmery products, I started to love them. I bought this ‘Warm Soul’ a while back, but honestly this shade didn’t excite me at first because it was paler than I thought. I am not overly impressed even today yet I feel it deserves one chance considering its super saturated color payoff. So let’s read more about MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush!

My Experience with MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush:

MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush Review

The dome shaped blush comes in a plastic, sturdy flip top pan packaging with an additional safety film, much to my liking. I absolutely adore its good quality and travel-friendly packaging. The shade “Warm Soul” is described as a mid tone beige with gold pearls and it is true to its description when applied on my pale skin tone. And, as MAC defines it as a sheer finish blush, it does give sheer to buildable coverage on my skin tone. I find it glowing and brightening for my pale/light skin tones while it can be a bummer for tanned beauties.

Even by looking at the pan we can see that it has a tendency to become ashy on medium-tanned complexions. Ideally, I never felt the need of wearing such shades until I realized the beauty of wearing bronzers on my pale skin tone. I mean my skin tone usually fluctuates from anaemic white to its pale self which looks lifeless even with a clear complexion. Hence, these glowing golden peachy bronzers come to my rescue. And, I am surprised how this Warm Soul adds that subtle golden glow to my face without making my skin look oily.

The shimmers in the blush do not look chunky at all; they seem almost invisible on my skin. The blush is not very pigmented for that matter. I mean this is certainly one of the most sheer MAC blushes I own (or tried so far) as it takes some generous swipes to show up. In fact it fades off swiftly within 5-6 hours but I am fine with it as it does not leave any shiny glitter behind.

Talking about the formula, it appears finely milled soft powdery in texture with no chalky or flaky appearance or feel on my skin. It comes up way smoother and saturated on my skin with no streaky or patchy finish. I don’t see it emphasizing my open large pores or fine lines either. Moreover it does not seem to accentuate the dryness or oiliness on my acne prone skin; it simply creates that sun kissed glow on my pale skin tone. I find it quite versatile in finish as I can simply swipe it on my bare skin for adding some subtle warmth during day time with just kohl and a coral pink lipstick. It shows up really well with full makeup and gives a pseudo contoured effect.

I can simply brush it on just like that as it comes up way sheer to forgive my amateur skills while I can emphasize my cheekbones with few generous strokes. I also like the way it comes up on my oily skin with sheer translucency without looking heavy or cakey. These factors make it ideal for every skin type including acne prone or sensitive skin types.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush:

• A finely milled, non-chalky powder blush
• Mid tone beige blush with gold shimmers
• Shimmers are not OTT
• Provides silky smooth finish
• Non-streaky and non-patchy
• Sheer to buildable coverage
• Does not look too “made up”
• Gives a sun-kissed glow
• Stays for good 5-6 hours on my oily skin
• Does not sit on top of dry patches
• Does not emphasize dry patches, fine lines or open pores
• Did not break me out
• Fades evenly

Cons of MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush:

• The glitters are not everyone’s cup of tea
• Might look dusty on tanned skin
• Staying power could have been better
• Many swipes are required for the color to show

Well, now that highlighting, strobing and baking techniques are taking the makeup industry by storm, I feel everything that screams shimmers is going to be hot. In fact, we do get one such shade in every low and medium budget ranges too.
