Product Purchased by IMBB
I am back again with an IMBB sponsored product. Many thanks to the IMBB team for letting me get this beauty. I have always wanted to review MAC lipsticks, but since there are hardly any which haven’t been reviewed on IMBB yet, I could not fulfill this wish of mine. But enter MAC Whirl from The Matte lip collection (which by the way is introducing some permanent matte lipsticks) and my wish comes true. So, let’s read further to know about this lipstick which has a cousin the MAC Whirl lip pencil in the permanent range.
A lipstick with hundreds of hues. The iconic product that made MAC famous.
Rs. 1450 for 3.0g / 0.1 us oz.
MAC describes Whirl as a dirty rose with a matte finish.
Packaging: This lipstick comes in the regular MAC packaging, nothing fancy, just functional and classy matte black. Details of the product are mentioned on the outer carton.
My Experience with MAC Whirl Lipstick:
Shade: Whirl described as a dirty rose by MAC is just that, a dirty rose color with a hint of brown. It is a beautiful color for everyday wear as well as night look. It will suit medium and fair-skinned ladies very well. Ladies with dark skin tones must check it out at the store to gauge its suitability. OMG! I love this stunning shade.
Pigmentation: Though this shade belongs to the n*des and brown family, the pigmentation, I am happy to say is full on. Just like any other MAC lipstick, a single swipe coats your lips in color. It is easily buildable and does not give a cakey look on layering.
Texture: This shade belongs to the well-known matte family from MAC. The finish is gorgeously matte like other mattes from MAC. It does not dry out the lips, but is neither moisturising. Although ladies who do not wear matte or have dry lips might feel uncomfortable and might need a little time and extra preparation to get used to the texture.
After a few hours of wear (if it still survives), it can feel a bit drying. It glides on the lips effortlessly without any tugging or pulling, despite the matte texture. It does not settle into lines nor does it bleed.
But it does cling to dry patches and hence prior exfoliation of lips will only enhance its beauty. It transfers very less.
Staying Power: This area is where the MAC lipsticks always disappoint me (except for some deep and bright colors). This lipstick lasted for about 2-3 hours on me with minor snacking. A full meal will wipe it off completely. For the bucks we pay, I feel the staying power of MAC lipsticks should be a little more. Anyway, I have learnt to keep my expectations in this area to the minimum and don’t mind reapplying my lipsticks.
Pros of MAC Whirl Lipstick:
- Classic rose shade with hints of brown.
- Well-known vanilla scent of MAC.
- True matte finish.
- Glides on the lips effortlessly.
- Does not settle into lines nor does it bleed.
- Transfers partially not completely.
- Amazing pigmentation, just a swipe is enough.
Cons of MAC Whirl Lipstick:
- Can be a little drying for dry lips after a few hours of wear.
- Clings to dry patches on the lips.
- Staying power is average, lasts for 2-3 hours.
