This eyeliner is part of my Black Friday/makeup haul from Sephora and since it belongs to a high-end brand, I had high expectations from it, but I have mixed feelings about this product. Keep on reading to know why.

My Take on Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil – Matte Black:
All of us makeup geeks out there love to hoard black eyeliner and khols because we are always in constant search of that perfect smudge-proof, waterproof and intense black eyeliner, which is not heavy on the pocket but alas, such an ideal product exists only in an ideal world and such an ideal world would come when we all relentlessly keep hoarding black eyeliners. I am glad this product will not end up in trash because it is pretty good.
Packaging: This product comes in a sharpen-able pencil form. The pencil has a shiny black finish and a cap on top.
Texture: Super soft and buttery (like a baby’s bottom), but not smooth to the point that it keeps running and smudging (we all hate those raccoon eyes). It applies with equal ease on both the eyelids and waterline without any tugging or pulling. It gives a matte finish as claimed by the product.
Color: This is perhaps the only downside of the product. It should have been intense black, but it is not that black as one is always trying to find. If I do not purchase this product in future, then this would be the sole reason.
Pigmentation: One swipe gives a black color, opaque streak and one need not go over water line or lids again and again to get full coverage – one swipe is enough. However, intensity of blackness does not increase appreciably over multiple swipes, hence it’s futile to do so.
Staying Power: Once applied, do not mess with it for at least 15 seconds and that’s it; enjoy black smudge-proof look for an entire day or as long as one does not subject to mess with it too much. It gives a good wear time on water line as well, but the wear time might vary from person to person. One can use a loose powder on lids or a primer to prevent it from creasing or smudging. It gave a better wear time than most drugstore eyeliners.

- Texture is super creamy and buttery.
- Smudge proof and waterproof for an entire day.
- Gives a matte finish.
- Good pigmentation – one stroke is enough.
- No fragrance.
- Gives a better wear time than most drug store eyeliners.
Cons of Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil – Matte Black:
- Needs to be sharpened.
- Intensity of black color could have been better.
- It is expensive for most of us.
Would I Repurchase Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil – Matte Black?
No, because whatever said and done, I love my black khols to be extra carbon black so that it stands out on my face. All those who don’t mind the $19 price tag and can compromise on the intensity of color, should try this beauty!
