It has been a while since I have reviewed a liner. The last liner that I had reviewed was probably Maybelline Curvy. I love eyeliners! I feel they add definition to the eyes and add a sharpness to the face. The easiest way to add colour to the face is using a coloured liner and these MUFE ones sure are colourful. Let us see how they perform:
A waterproof liquid eyeliner for intense non-stop colour.
The product comes packaged in a typical liquid liner packaging. The good thing is that the tube itself and the top of the cap are colour coordinated with the shade of the product. This allows you to be able to reach for the one you want more easily. You screw open the cap to find that the product has a felt tip. The tip is quite sturdy enabling you to make clear, precise lines. The whole thing comes packaged in a black cardboard box – as with any other MUFE product. Overall, the packaging is efficient and effective. I have had this piece for more than a year and the product has not dried out or clumped up.
My Experience with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 04 Diamond Lagoon Green:
Shade: It is this gorgeous teal shade – bright, shimmery and pretty much in your face. The shimmery shine is distinctive. Love it! However, I have realised that I did not use it too often over the year or so that I have had this product. Why? Here is the thing – for us, who are used to wearing a liner every day, we get bored of the usual black liner. We want to experiment with colours. So, we get ourselves some coloured liners. However, most of the coloured liners (gel and liquid) tend to be quite subtle. Do note that I am talking a year or more back. Whether it is blue or purple or green – the shades will be distinct up close but quite dark and subtle from afar. And even though I would crib about the shade not being bright enough, I didn’t realise that the wearability increases tenfolds if the shade is muted/subtle
However, when it came to this one – the shade was quite bright and distinct, which honestly, made it difficult for me to wear it too often. And again, I am talking about the things the way they were more than a year back. However, things have changed now! We live in a bright and colourful world now, so I do enjoy using it. So, i do enjoy using it, but I do prefer to use it more as accent shade than a full-on eyeliner. Refer to the EOTD shared by me (I have used it for the outer 1/3rd of my eyeliner).
Texture: The texture was fairly liquid when I first bought it, but has since become slightly thicker. However, it is still easy to work with. You should ideally shake it before using it. The product applies quite easily. The pigment does not skip, the foiled shimmer does not clump. You get a nice even line. Also, the base does not feather into my fine lines. I do feel that the product formula is very well worked out in terms of texture. However, there is one concern – and a fairly big one at that. If used too close to the lash line – and if it goes into the eye – it stings like crazy. Not, slight discomfort, it really really hurts! And this probably contributed heavily to might not using it much over the year. And I had forgotten this by the time I bought new shades. Anyway, the way I use it now, I don’t face the stinging issue because I don’t use it close to my lash line – at all.
The product dries out fairly quickly and is pretty much budge-proof once it has set. It will not move the entire day – nor will it lose its shimmer or the intensity of the shade. Yes, it is waterproof. It does not dissolve with water. You do need a makeup remover to take it off. The swatch on your hand would come off with water – if you rubbed it long enough. However, I presume, you don’t rub your eyes in the same way.
Pigmentation: The product has excellent pigmentation. The shade and shimmer is such a homogenous mix that the colour really pops! You do not need to go over it twice to make the shade show up. A single swipe has the full intensity of the shade.
Longevity: Love the longevity of this. As I have mentioned earlier, it stays put the whole day. It will not fade, it will not feather. It just doesn’t budge. It gives you full day wear. You need a oil based makeup up remover to take it off at the end of the day. And it can tend to satin the skin ever so slightly.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 4 Diamond Lagoon Green:
- Unique bright teal shade.
- Waterproof – does not budge once you apply.
- Excellent pigmentation.
- Easy to do a thin or a thick line.
- Easy to do a cat flick.
- Effective and efficient packaging.
- The felt tip is easy to work with.
- Texture is excellent – does not thin out or separate out int he tube or while applying.
Cons of Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 4 Diamond Lagoon Green:
- Stings badly if the product enters the eye – a bummer – considering it is an eye product.
- Can sometimes stain the area where it is applied.
I know the fact that the formula stinging the eye could make it a no-go for someone. However, the way eye makeup is today, there really are a million ways to incorporate a coloured liner into the look – not necessarily on the lash line. I absolutely love using this now. It is like a fun thing to work with. Not something which would be office appropriate though. SO, if you are looking for a coloured liner to take just 1 step up from your usual black one – this isn’t it. However, if you want to have fun and are comfortable with bright colours on your eye – do give this a shot.
