Today’s review is on another Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner. This one is in an unbelievable color. ‘Unbelievable’ is the fact that I picked this color to use on my eyes – that too a couple of years back!! Who would have thought? Let us see how this one performs!
Price: INR 2200 / USD 23
A highly pigmented, waterproof liquid eyeliner with non-stop results.
Rich in polymers, this superior eyeliner offers an impeccable hold that guarantees water-, tear-, and smudge-proof color. Its ergonomic, foam-tip applicator is designed to resemble a makeup brush handle for the quickest, easiest and most accurate application. Aqua liner is available in a wide range of vibrant shades with matte, iridescent and diamond finishes. Easily remove with waterproof makeup remover.
How To Apply: For best results, remember to shake Aqua Liner before each use. Hold the cap like a brush and trace along the lash line. Pro tip: Aqua Liners stable waterproof formula and precision applicator make it ideal for creating make up designs.
My Experience with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 9 Iridescent Fuchsia:
Packaging: The product comes packaged in a typical liquid liner packaging. The good thing is that the tube itself and the top of the cap are color coordinated with the shade of the product. This allows you to be able to reach for the one you want more easily. The tube is quite thin. You screw to open the cap to find that the product has a felt tip. The tip is quite sturdy enabling you to make clear, precise lines. As per the Company, the thinness of the tube/cap is to mimic the feel of a brush in the hand. The whole thing comes packaged in a black cardboard box – like any other MUFE product. Overall, the packaging is efficient and effective. I have had this piece for a couple of years and the product has not dried out or become clumpy.
A bit of background of this product. This is not a new launch. It has been around for some time. So, while every other Company is doing these bright eyeliner shades today – MUFE has been doing them from the Stone Age. The only difference being – such MUFE products (and even MAC) were predominantly for the consumption of the Professionals. And when I say professionals, I don’t mean every other person who can apply makeup on their own face and calls him/her self an MUA (yes, throwing shade), but actual professional makeup artists who get commissioned to do cover pages, editorial work, ramp work, etc. These type of products were essentially for MUAs. However, with the beauty community exploding and beauty influencers becoming advertising models, much of the professional makeup is now being pelted to the general consumer as a need to have. I did touch upon it in my Anti-Haul post. What this has also done is make the general consumer more experimental – whether the experimentation is for real life or just for Instagram – that is debatable. This has lead to more and more companies coming up with such products and now there is a plethora of stuff from each company. However, MUFE (and even MAC) have been leaders in this criterion for ages.
Back to the product in hand…
Shade: The shade Iridescent Fuchsia is a bright pink with no apparent shimmer particles – just a distinct metallic sheen. It is a bright in your face type of shade. Why in heaven’s name did I choose this color – I don’t even remember. Considering how in your face bright this is, it would have been way out of my comfort zone a couple of years back. And, I don’t even recollect if and when I actually used it ever. It’s only recently when I added a couple more shades to my collection, that I picked this up again to use and I am enjoying experimenting with this – though cautiously. Refer to the EOTD shared by me – I have used it for a double wing liner.
Texture: The texture was fairly liquid – despite it being a couple of years since I first opened it. You need to shake it before using it or else the product separates out a bit. The product applies smoothly. The pigment does not skip, the foiled shimmer does not clump. You get a nice even line. Also, the base does not feather into my fine lines. The product definitely has a good formula in terms of application.
However, this too has the same concern as mentioned by me in the MUFE Diamond Lagoon Green Review that if the product goes into the eye (if used too close to the lash line), it stings like crazy. Not, slight discomfort, it really really hurts. You have no choice but to take it off, along with your makeup. The way I use it – in an accent tone – I don’t face the stinging issue. However, I do understand that it can be a big deterrent for someone.
The product dries out fairly quickly and is pretty much budge-proof once it has set. It will not move the entire day nor will it lose its metallic sheen or the intensity of the shade. It is waterproof. It does not dissolve in water. You do need a makeup remover to take it off. Since this one does not have the shimmer particles, it will not flake off even if you rub your eyes. IT DOES NOT BUDGE!!!!! Also, unlike the Teal shade, this does not stain the skin either.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this shade wasn’t as good as the Teal one I reviewed earlier. I felt that I had to go back a couple of times for more product. Let me make it clear, the pigmentation is not bad; it’s just that it isn’t as good as the Diamond Lagoon Green one, which was good to go in a single swipe.
Longevity: Love the longevity of this. As I mentioned earlier, it stays put for the whole day. It will not fade, it will not feather. It just doesn’t budge. It gives you full-day wear. You would need an oil-based makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day. And it can tend to stain the skin ever so slightly.
Pros of Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 9 Iridescent Fuchsia:
• Unique bright fuchsia with a metallic sheen
• Waterproof; does not budge once put on
• Good pigmentation
• Easy to do a thin or a thick line
• Easy to do a cat flick
• Effective and efficient packaging
• The felt tip is easy to work with
• Texture is excellent; does not thin out or separate out in the tube or while applying
• DOES NOT BUDGE; you can rub your eyes and it will still be there
Cons of Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 9 Iridescent Fuchsia:
• Stings badly if the product enters the eye – a bummer – considering it is an eye product
Would I Recommend Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 9 Iridescent Fuchsia?
This one is a crazy shade and the beauty of it is that it will not move!! Don’t we all want our eyeliner to just stay in place? This is one such liner. Yes, pink is not the color you are likely to reach for. But, if you want to experiment – what could be wilder than a fuchsia on your eyes!! 😉
