There is also a booklet enclosed which has different looks detailed to help you on create different looks.

On its on – the packaging is fairly okay. However, when I compare it to the packaging of a comparable palette by a comparable brand – MAC Times Nine palette, I find MAC’s packaging much better, it’s compact, plastic, sturdy and no fuss.

The packaging works well for travel too. I haven’t traveled with it; however, “it” has traveled half of India before reaching me.

My Experience with Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows 1 – 9 Artist Shadow Palette:

The palette houses 9 shades of eyeshadow:

Shades:  What’s unique about the MUFE Artist 1 palette is that all the shades are from their permanent line. So, if you really like a shade or two, you can always go and get just that shade for yourself.

As is usual with MUFE products, the shades don’t have name, but have numbers instead and the alphabets in the front identify the finish. So, “I” refers to Iridescent, “ME” for Metallic, “S” for Satin, “D” for Diamond. “M” stands for Matte and as you will notice, there are NO matte eyeshadows here.

I-528 – This shade is an iridescent pearl beige.  It’s a nice and creamy shade with a lovely pearl finish, could very well double up as a highlighter too.
I-514 – This shade is pink ivory in iridescent finish. Again, it’s of very creamy and smooth finish. On the lid, it’s difficult to identify this colour from the previous one. This one is a bit more metallic than the previous one.
ME-512 – This shade is a golden beige shade in metallic finish. As the name suggests, it has got hints of gold and has a strong metallic finish.

S-556 – This shade is a taupe grey shade in satin finish. It’s taupe with hints of purple and grey. Honestly, it looks quite matte rather than a satin finish.
D-562 – This shade is a taupe platinum shade in diamond. This is another taupe shade, but in diamond finish, meaning, it has finely milled shimmer particles which catch the light and add dimension to the look.

ME-644 – This shade is an iced brown color in a metallic finish. It’s a creamy bronze-y brown shade and looks lovely on the eye.

S-102 – This shade is onyx black in satin finish. This is a pure black shade and the finish of this again seems quite matte – instead of satin.
I-544 – This shade is pink granite in iridescent finish. It’s a pinky taupe shade – reminds me of Laura Mercier’s Amethyst.
D-652 – This shade is Celestial Earth in a diamond finish. It’s a warm bronze shade with golden shimmer particles.

Texture: All the shades have a very creamy and smooth texture, and blend quite easily. They have opaque colour payoff, but can be sheered out if required.

Staying Power:  On my oily lids, everything has a tendency to become a royal mush, so I live by eye primers. With the primer on, this one lasted the whole day on me, about 8.5-9 hours, post which I took it off. Even without a primer, the colours swatch beautifully and show up well on the skin.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is excellent. You do not really need to dig into the pan to get the colour to show up on your skin. They swatch beautifully, apply well and stay put, and do not lose intensity with time.

As I mentioned earlier, all the shades are easily available as singles as well. The palette costs $44, while singles cost $21, though you do get a tad bit more product in singles. So, in terms of value for money, as per Sephora, the value of the palette is close to $136. So at $44, it’s an absolute steal!

Even though the palette does not technically have matte eyeshadows, the taupe and the black show up pretty matte on the skin and do the job well.

However, I do feel that a matte transition colour would have really rounded up the palette especially if you see the top 2 colours which seem so similar.  It would have been nicer to have one of them as a matte transition color like MAC Soft Brown or Cork.

Also, as a whole, the palette pulls a little cool toned.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows 1 – 9 Artist Shadow Palette?
This palette had been on my radar since ages – pretty much ever since it came out. However, two things deterred me from buying it – one, because I wasn’t really into eyeshadows too much; two, because there were no matte shades. Like I said, two of the satin shades pull quite matte on the skin, so that was sorted. So, when I was finally ready to really experiment with eye makeup, I picked it up in a jiffy – actually, I made my sister pick it up for me!  I think it’s a lovely palette and would work well for people who love neutrals or for working women since it can help with office wearable makeup as well as allow you to transition from office-friendly to evening-out look.
