My Experience with Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Lemon Drop:

Packaging:  This eyeshadow comes in a pan which you have to pop into a magnetic palette. I do like the flexibility this provides for customizing a palette based on your needs, but this also means that you have to shell out extra to buy the Z palette on top of buying the eyeshadow.

Shade: This shade is described as a shimmery bright lemon yellow shade. I have been hunting for a bright yellow eyeshadow for so long. While I do like this eyeshadow, it’s still not the one for me. It’s not a complete matte like I thought it was. It has a hint of satin sheen to it.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation on this shade is good but not mind blowing like some of my other Makeup Geek shadows. This shade need building up in at least 2-3 layers for the shade to achieve complete opacity. While this may subjective to ones liking as not everyone wears such a bold color on an everyday basis so if you would like that subtle pop of color in your eye look, it helps to not have the color not be as bold in your face bright which this shade is in its first layers but it does build well on itself.

Texture and Blendability:  This shade is smooth and soft to touch and not too powdery. It doesn’t have a lot of pickup when you put your brush in and it is very easy to blend.

Staying Power:  This shade lasts 6 hours on me before showing some signs of fading even on top of a primer.

Overall, while I do think shade is very pretty I am not going to give it full points because it does not have that bold one swipe opaque pigmentation I want out of a bright shade like this, but my search still continues.

In the EOTD, I have used the shades Lemon Drop, Early Bird and Poppy, all from Makeup Geek.

Pros of Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Lemon Drop:

  • Bright canary yellow color. I love shades like this.
  • Smooth and easy to blend.
  • No patchiness.
  • Soft satin sheen with a hint of shimmer.
  • Buildable pigmentation.
  • Not a whole lot of kick-up.

Cons of Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Lemon Drop:

  • Does not have that opaque pigmentation, color needs to be built up in 2-3 layers to achieve opacity. It takes work.
