Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Limelight Review

This review will be on Makeup Geek foiled shadow in the shade “Limelight.” This shadow is a part of my second Makeup Geek haul.

My Experience with Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Limelight:

I love Makeup Geek shadows for the most part and the foiled range is simply outstanding.

Packaging:  This eyeshadow comes in a pan which you have to pop into a magnetic palette. I do like the flexibility this provides for customizing a palette based on your needs, but this also means you have to shell out extra to buy the Z palette on top of buying the eyeshadow.

Shade:  “Limelight” is described as a lime green color with a metallic foiled finish. There is no denying that this is a very unique shade especially if you are looking for an unconventional color to play with.

Texture/Pigmentation and Blendability:  I am disappointed that it does not translate that way on the lids as beautifully as it looks in the pan. While the pigmentation is spot on, just like most of foiled shadows, it seems to dull within moments of application. I find myself going back in the pan again and again and patting it heavier and heavier to get the intensity to my liking. It is also a difficult shadow to work with, it does not seem to cooperate when using a flat brush which I generally use with my other foiled shadows and I find my self digging hard in the pan to get enough shadow on it. I have to use my fingers but it is difficult to get clean edges if you want a concentrated spot application or have long nails to deal with.

Staying Power: I wasn’t impressed with the staying powder. It seemed to lose the intensity of its foiled shine 2-3 hours into wear and had creasing and fading 5-6 hours into wear.

Overall, I will not recommend this particular shade from the Makeup Geek foiled range. If you are looking for a similar shade to this, but want something way better in performance, I would suggest Kat Von D Metal Crush Shadow in the shade “Electric Warrior.”

In the EOTD, I have “Limelight” as a pop of color in the middle of the lid.

Pros of Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Limelight:

• Creamy smooth texture.
• Talc and paraben free.

Cons of Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Limelight:

• Difficult to work with.
• Does not seem to give the intensity of shine I want from it and dulls remarkable within minutes of application.
